Floyd's first 15 opponents had a combined loss total of 94!
One of those guys was literally 1-13-1 for fcks sake! He didn't even fight for a title until his 18th fight.
Loma's first 15 have a combined losses of 39 and 12 of those are Solido, which was his 2nd pro contest in a title fight!
Can you not see the difference?Comment

I've seen the fight. Mayweather didn't run in that fight. You just made that up.Comment

The key word is “usually”. You are correct that Loma usually makes height and reach a moot point but we are talking about a fight at the highest level. Both are supreme talents but one has a significant height and reach advantage. Those details matter for me.I dunno man, the height and reach thing is usually a moot point with Loma. He’s always disadvantaged that way but he utilises his smaller stature to create acute angles.
I don’t think pretty boy Floyd would approach this like a chess match either. Floyd was far more aggressive at 130. I think he’d box on the front foot for considerable stretches and would put it on Loma, looking to land combinations instead of single shot counters.
I’d be so interested to see who’s footwork would be more effective in this one, both guys move/moved flawlessly. I could see that being a pivotal factor.Comment

I disagree tbh man, at the highest level it tends to make less of a difference. As elite fighters rely far more on skill than their physical tools.
I tend to think it’s at the lower levels that height and reach has the biggest impact as those fighters don’t necessarily have the ability adjust to physical disadvantages.
If Floyd was to beat Loma it wouldn’t be because he was taller and had longer arms it would be because of timing, punch placement, angles, footwork etc. Sure height and reach is an advantage but in a fight between two elite fighters I don’t think it’s a significant difference maker.Comment
