Ali fought the best guys in their prime, other than Liston. Prime Frazier, Foreman, Norton, great actual fights. Floyd fought most of the big names after they'd been well beaten, badly stopped, or erased with one punch. Timing does matter. For example., Tyson stopping Holmes in 4 in 88, isn't the same as him doing it to the 84 version, its just not.

Floyd is an all time great but he’s so insecure. It’s possible he could have legitimately had a case for being the best ever if he didn’t strategically fight his opponents at the times he wanted to. He chose money over legacy so he has to live with the vast majority of critics not having him as the best ever.

This sums it up. He could have been TBE all those fights he would have most likely won. But he chose to be the "Sun Tzu" of the fight game.

Mayweather was a great fighter, and did have enormous heart, and a great chin. Demarcus Corley, and Shane Mosley with knocked down punches if not knockout punches, he didn't go down and won both fights. Even when pressured against Luis Castillo, Miguel Cotto, Zab Judah, Marcos Maidana he fought to the finish. It's been reported that he'd have his own blood re-injected back into his body. Which would help with his endurance during the course of his fights. Lance Armstrong a 7 time Tour De France cyclist champion, was using the same performance enhancement treatment. It's called doping he lost all of his championships, and was forced to retire from the sport. I also thought that he lost his first fights to Castillo, and Maidana. Mike Tyson was so angry when he heard that Mayweather had the audacity to say he was better than Muhammad Ali. That he walked up to him at a boxing awards event, and mocked punching him in the face, and then throwing a combination to his body. All Mayweather did in response was smile, he knew there was a good chance Tyson would probably take it to the next level if he in turn had gotten aggressive. All the former boxing champions who were on the same stage looked surprised to see what was unfolding right in front of them. Tyson in an interview also said Mayweather was a small scared man who couldn't walk his own children to school without his bodyguards. No Mayweather wasn't the best ever in boxing, not even close.

You have all-time great fighters like Willie Pep, Archie Moore and Sugar Ray Robinson with over 200 professional prize fights. These men should be considered the best ever.

Mayweather is one of the greatest fighters in history.

But Mayweather even at his peak? Was unable to separate himself from the pack.

I.E Usain Bolt put distance between himself, and his competitors. Mike Tyson at his peak, put distance between himself and his competitors via brutal knock outs, intimidation and winning with serious conviction 'Roy Jones Junior did this, Prince Naseem Hamed and even Muhammad Ali'.

Mayweather in far too many of his fights, just did enough 'He did not put distance between himself and his opponents'.

His last true great performance was vs Canelo Alvarez, he was a eroded fighter after that point.

Note: Conor Mcgregor should of been demoralized from round 2 on-wards in their fight, he should of been a changed man after the fight 'Mayweather even after 2 years retirement and giving away 15-20 pounds' Mayweather should of still put some serious distance between himself and Mcgregor'.
