So wait a minute he fights HHH twice (S h ! T fight) he fights Kovalev and does something an extreme elite few have ever done in the history of boxing (s h ! T fight). And it’s highly doubtful “they” get to pick his opponent. Have you seen it? Has anyone for that matter seen it. Anyone saying “they” get to pick his opponent is based upon utter assumption. Canelo gets to dictate his own career and he is willing to take them to court over it. If he wins then that proves not a single person knows anything about what is in this contract.. if he loses he pushes on and will continue to dominate. Actually, you’re exact quote was “that contract does not reference anything regarding force majeure.” Again, that is pure speculation seeing how there is no possible way you have seen the contract unless you’re DAZN, Canelo, Golden Boy or their representatives. In fact Golden Boy statement through spokesperson Stefan Friedman a few weeks ago alludes to the fact that GB agreement with Canelo has a Force Majuere Clause.
“Even though our contract specifically gives Golden Boy the right to wait until the pandemic is over and fans can return” i.e. Golden Boy doesn’t have to owned up to their agreement until this Covid 19 situation is taken care of.

I agree it is difficult to nail this without access to the actual contract. We shall see how this plays out.

He can make the money they're offering him anywhere else with more of a guarantee in PPV upside. How many people in a whole subbed to DAZN just to watch Canelo fight twice a year? LMAO, Golden Boy has arguably the best up and comer in the game today in Vergil Ortiz Jr. not to mention the most popular of the young crop in Ryan Garcia. Throw in there Munguia, JoJo Diaz, Rocha, Ellis, Bek the Bully, Hector Tenajara, Joshua Franco etc... they’ll be creating new stars while Canelo will be sitting home waiting for a judgement.

#2 Canelo did not agree to fight GGG as a condition of his contract. GGG wasn't signed to DAZN when Canelo signed.

when the fight was offered to him canelo turned it down and faced kovalev instead..only after did canelo say he was willing to face golovkin and by then golovkin said no...then the covid kicked in.
Jeez even the WBC now have tried to pass on a can for canelo to fight and DAZN stepped in and said no...canelo wants minimum risk for a pig payout and if I was DAZN I’ll tell him to **** himself which is what they have done.

You must be one of the dumbest posters on the forum. Maybe you haven’t heard...but GGG was not written in Canelo’s contract and GBP never told Canelo that he NEEDED to fight GGG upon signing to DAZN.

Only loser here clearly is Canelo.. GBP/DAZN relationship clearly continuing. They’re practically announcing 2 cards, business as usual. While Canelo can stew and attempt to break the contract, let him wait 2 years. Once fans come back he will be mandated to fight GGG & can decide to take the fight, DAZN will offer him full pay for that fight, but GBP will not do that fight until fans can come back and pay for tickets.

In two years time GGG will be 40. I'm shocked he's still fighting now as his style isnt really conducive to guys fighting this late in their career.
