Showtime wants to sign Canelo

Showtime is owned by CBS...signing with them immediately increases exposure. Also, Showtime works directly w PBC who are frequent flyers on Fox. Canelo stands to gain A LOT by signing with ShowtimeFirst off he still has a contract with DAZN those are the facts but lets look at it from clenelo's perspective IF he gets out of it he would have just gotten out of an exclusive deal where he was having all sorts of problems with a network why would he lock himself into working with only one network again? I think he will become a true network free agent and only do one fight deals.Comment

... well ... "On 17 October 2018, DAZN announced that it had signed a five-year, $365 million deal with Álvarez, under which his next eleven fights would be broadcast in the U.S. by the subscription sports streaming service. The deal would begin with Álvarez vs. Fielding..."
... but (according to Kevin Iole) he doesn't have... OK...Comment

CBS / Showtime are American products. Corona cases are rising again. The state of the USA still isn’t good. Remember months back they predicted rising again the same way viruses always work / seasonal, and it was also said to last until end of 2021 - either with vaccine help or inevitable immunity which is usually the case and life will go on. Personally I thought Covid to be a NEW experience, but a highly exaggerated one due to politics. There would’ve already been whistleblowers by protesters alone of the increase of infection but there isn’t much of it. That isn’t consistent with world fear and stats...
But to the main point, Canelo needs DAZN Global. When DAZN starts to gain traction with world metrics and profits all will be forgotten as it was going to be anyways. His multi deal was meant to be paid off as DAZN grew and Global hadn’t launch.
Remember that Golden Boy has world license for all territories even to the global launch. So DAZN main goal was always to showcase Canelo gifts globally anyways. It was planned years in advance. OTT just need to start strong with sportsComment

... I keep reading: "Canelo doesn't need this, Canelo doesn't need that"...
... but Canelo actually needs the big money he made just before he signed with DAZN...
... Now: who is securing him this money, within the present context?...Comment

Per Iole, "Alvarez and DAZN did not have a contract with each other. The contracts at issue in this case were between Alvarez, Golden Boy and De La Hoya on one side and Golden Boy, De La Hoya and DAZN on the other."... well ... "On 17 October 2018, DAZN announced that it had signed a five-year, $365 million deal with Álvarez, under which his next eleven fights would be broadcast in the U.S. by the subscription sports streaming service. Point A to Point C is not the same as Point A to Point B and Point B to Point C, even if they end up at the same destination. That is especially so when it comes to legal matters. It sounds like DAZN has a contract with GB and GB has a contract with Alvarez.Comment

If he’s done with DAZN/Golden Boy then he shouldn’t sign with anyone exclusively.
Do deals on a fight by fight basis, create a bidding war and maximize his profits.
Or if he does go with Showtime or Top Rank hopefully he learns from this and makes sure their are clearly defined process for choosing opponents and he has his say.Comment
