Exactly Canelo is not worth $35 million I don’t know who came out with those numbers but Canelo should be thankful for getting paid $35 million to fight and he gets to control the stipulations like weight clause, catch weight, opponents purse. He’s the Mexican Mayweather without having the actual following.

Canelo is not some huge star people make him out to be. He’s just the only guy to have fought Mayweather and got schooled and he got crown the face of boxing once Mayweather left. $35 million to a fighter who when he steps up in competition always loses or wins a controversial decision in Vegas.

Canelo fanboys have no answer to this other than “you Puerto Rican blah blah blah” Canelo is a worse diva than Miguel “hot pink” Cotto at this point.

If he's truly serious about getting out of his contract with Golden Boy and DAZN then I think that he would be a damn fool not to sign with Showtime, the PBC and Floyd Mayweather Promotions.

He won't make anywhere near that kind of bread over at ESPN and Top Rank because Bob Arum is is too old school. He is currently downsizing and cutting his budget during this pandemic.

Which is why he is very reluctant in holding a Pay Per view event behind a bubble because he wants a live gate in order to maximize his profits.

I mean, Canelo gave Showtime 5 scraps (Lopez, Trout, Mayweather, Angulo and Lara) so I can see this happening again. Possibly. He'd be the "big man" at Showtime and they can secure better fights for him than DAZN (Eubank Jr. Charlo, Spence (at 160), Derevyanchenko, Benavidez and Plant).

Trust me, I'd rather see him against a couple of these guys than what they're trying to give us on DAZN.

They just need to assure him he will fight on his own terms, people coming up from lightweight, and guys fighting the Canelo weight with re-hydration clauses and he will get to choose his cousins to score the fights.

CBS / Showtime are American products. Corona cases are rising again. The state of the USA still isn’t good. Remember months back they predicted rising again the same way viruses always work / seasonal, and it was also said to last until end of 2021 - either with vaccine help or inevitable immunity which is usually the case and life will go on. Personally I thought Covid to be a NEW experience, but a highly exaggerated one due to politics. There would’ve already been whistleblowers by protesters alone of the increase of infection but there isn’t much of it. That isn’t consistent with world fear and stats...

But to the main point, Canelo needs DAZN Global. When DAZN starts to gain traction with world metrics and profits all will be forgotten as it was going to be anyways. His multi deal was meant to be paid off as DAZN grew and Global hadn’t launch.

Remember that Golden Boy has world license for all territories even to the global launch. So DAZN main goal was always to showcase Canelo gifts globally anyways. It was planned years in advance. OTT just need to start strong with sports

Did Canelo-Kovalev last year make over $45 million? Even with a live gate no way that fight made $$$ especially if there was a UFC ppv that took over the night. Maybe I’m wrong but I just don’t see it, there’s no fighter he can fight that a network profits off
