Why did Matthysse and Maidana failed?

Why did Matthysse and Maidana failed to become world champions?

    Thoughts?

WBA Regular belt does not count. That's why I also didn't count Matthysse's WBA regular belt.

You seriously consider Ugas as a champion? Charr? Shumenov? Canelo's WBA regular belt? Murata? Tank Davis? Barrios? Xu?

Maidana was a legit WBA champion at welterweight (not "Regular" champion).

He was a regular champion. The Super champion at that time was Floyd, the same Super belt Manny is holding right now after beating Thurman.

The belt Maidana won off Broner was the WBA regular belt, the same belt which Ugas holds right now.

Look at the WBA Regular lineage:

Now look at the lineage of the WBA Super belt:

They were never legit champions bro. Kinda weird for fighters of their caliber.

You have to treat the WBA Regular belt as some sort of interim belt.
