So GB entered into a contract with Canelo guaranteeing him 35M per fight that had no safety clauses?? Sounds crazy. It's hard to believe.. There has to be more to it than that. There is no way they can afford to pay that amount without DAZN.

It does sound crazy but with HBO getting out of boxing I think Oscar was telling DAZN anything to get a contract. DAZN is saying he promised (either in writing or verbally) Canelo v. GGG III. Golden Boy claims they didn't. I believe DAZN tbh. Probably not in the contract but verbally.

None of us have seen the specifics of the contract so this thread has become largely dominated by canelo lover boys unfortunately.
No, it's not necessarily so. A court can just as easily deem a contract illegal and toss it out. It's a subjective process. A contract must meet four criteria: Mutual assent (agreement), consideration (promise), capacity (knowledge) and object of legality (legal).

Remember that Oscar successfully sued Top Rank to get out of his contract with him. At this time I cannot recall the specifics of the case but all De La Hoya wanted was his freedom from Bob Arum to start his own promotional company and a court granted it to him.

Well if boxing wasn't struggling enough now we have one of main attractions possibly not fighting for quite a while.
