So Canelo is a network free agent?

We now know Canelo doesn't have a contract directly with DAZN, Golden Boy does. They get paid to deliver Canelo fights to DAZN and Canelo has a contract with Golden Boy to pay him $35 per fight on DAZN.

In the lawsuit filing Canelo said when DAZN wouldn't approve opponents or pay Golden Boy what they promised per Canelo fight he told them to explore other network options. Doing so would obviously be a breach in contract on Golden Boy's part with DAZN but on the flip side not delivering a fight for Canelo is also a breach in contract on Golden Boy's side. In that article before Oscar found out about the filing he put all the blame on DAZN for not living up to their contractual obligations. After the lawsuit a rep for Golden Boy blamed Covid, saying they're not obligated to put on a Canelo fight without a crowd.

So Canelo is free to fight anywhere as long as Golden Boy promotes it but if it's promoted on DAZN they have to pay him $35 mil minimum. Is this correct?

If he was then he wouldn't be asking for 280M in his lawsuit against DAZN. That lawsuit would be directed at GBP. Hence why his case has stalled for a minute. His solicitors need to go and have a look at what GBP signed with DAZN on behalf of Canelo, and then see what Caenlo signed with GBP (What right he has given them on his behalf.)

The initial filing seems like throw everything against the wall and lets see what sticks. In the end I don't think DAZN will be a part of the lawsuit.

But I'm talking about the two specific parts he claimed as factual in the lawsuit.
      1. He doesn't have a network deal directly with DAZN
      2. He told Golden Boy to find other networks to put on his fights.

Would love to see the Canelo nuthuggers reaction if he started working with Haymon

          That’s a good question.

I take it that Oscar told Canelo that there was a possibility for an alternative broadcaster, or else that wouldn’t have been a narrative to begin with. Therefore the problem lies with GBP / DAZN contract.

DAZN could choose to forfeit GBP contract and worse sue them for “fraud.” We don’t know what the details are for what was expected to be delivered between GBP DAZN.

Well... considering that DAZN is currently working with Alvarez’s legal directly, they may come to an agreement... that simply means to get out of trouble with Alvarez. Then the second problem is GBP vs Saul Alvarez. Contracts can be void if fraud is proven from either contracts, and Alvarez would be in the clear.

But I don’t like the idea of Canelo working with Haymon. Haymon is a ****** master

Yeah I heard DAZN is working with Canelo on suing Coke Head Oscar. He's already lost his company once...

"The WBC has scheduled a purse bid for Sept. 21 on the ordered bout between Canelo Alvarez and Avni Yildirim for its super middleweight belt"

I would laugh my @ss off if another promoter bid for this fight over GB.

If you were Canelo would you still work with DAZN knowing they reneged not only on Golden Boy's deal but other sports rights deals worldwide? Idk, I'd be trying to get as much as I can and get out. These folks can't be trusted to live up to contractual obligations.
