How important are Boxrec and Ring magazine rankings?

This is a hilarious question just because it depends on who’s ranked and when with fanboys on here .

I remember both being praised when Wilder was champion ,and even some touted the Transnational rankings the best as soon as AJ lost when he wasn’t ranked one . Then Wilder lost they no longer mattered again . AJ had held the number one spot for a huge time then it didn’t matter so rankings in general are only supported if a certain fan base has the edge at that time . Ha

Personally they don’t mean much, the Transnational rankings are the best with at least placing fighters logically.

I only view boxrec's rankings to see which fighters are in a division. Anyone worthwhile in a division is usually in the top 50 somewhere.

I don't view any other rankings or care about pound for pound lists.

The Ring is owned by a promoter, I can't take their rankings serious. Even as ridiculous as you may think Boxrec rankings are, it is based off a point system and not anyones personal opinion.

Their rankings are put together by a panel of experts. Their rankings are clearly very solid and have been for over a century.
