If those fights were not made then it comes down to money. Canelo's team did not want to pay the opponents the money they wanted.

    Kovalev got $12,000,000.

    Saunders and Smith wanted $8,000,000.
Canelo was willing to fight GGG in May but GGG refused saying he wanted to fight Szermetmanbdndj or whatever his name is.

GGG can afford to pay his opponents because he fights SCRUBS.

Canelo fights world class opponents so it costs a bit more, but neither Smith or BJS deserve even half of $8 million...based on what?

My man, he made a very bold move! Now c'mon over to the PBC. They welcome you over there!

Looks like the Golden Boy and DAZN just may be on their way out of business. The worse thing they could have done was to add combat sports to its platform.

I'm pretty sure that the two sides would reach a settlement. I think Canelo would settle for at least a $182.5 million dollars.

This is what happens when Boxing networks and online streaming services try to act like promoters. It's not their job to play matchmaker and tell the fighters that they sign who they should and should not fight. They have a promoter to do that. The fighters job is to fight on their platforms and that's it.

When they were negotiating with GGG in early 2019, Oscar said he could get Canelo do a GGG trilogy fight despite Canelo having no obligation to do so.
He did this to get his own DAZN deal for his GBP fighters.
This was news to Canelo who was done with GGG eating off his name.
This caused DAZN to try and force the GGG fight by not approving any other fighters and not paying up for opponents. It was confirmed by both sides that Canelo and Andrade were in talks to fight last September but DAZN wouldn’t do the fight. This would have been a unification fight that trumps any mandatories and allowed Canelo to hold all the MW titles which was his stated goal.
Then Haymon pulled some bs forcing the IBO mandatory despite Canelo just winning the title in his previous fight. Derevenchenko priced himself out then took the same amount offered to fight GGG.
All in all GBP is supposed to represent Canelo’s interests and they weren’t doing that. DAZN offered a contract they weren’t holding up their end of.
I think this ends with a settlement and Canelo not working with a single promoter. Doing each fight as a single deal to max out his earnings.
              Great summary. Thanks.

We all saw this coming, DAZN doesn’t know what the hell they're doing, now they’re laying off lots of employees in the US which sounds like DAZN USA is coming to an end!

DAZN got played by a crossdressing rehab patient an they expect Canelo to respect their ****** demands when they also allow a non seller in Golovkin freedom to fight low level fights without backlash!

Time to leave DeadZone in the rear view mirror for Alvarez. Like I've said many times on here, they don't have the capacity to produce major events, or the reach. Canelo is not going to get 35 million from the other networks but they will provide him with a hefty guarantee and a chunk of PPV upside, but most importantly, the reach and capacity that DAZN just doesn't have.

DAZN was a good idea but canelo might have been the wrong man to center things around.

A non English speaking fighter made it hard for them to sell subs outside of canelo’s base. This made it hard for them to sell subs In the north, south and eastern USA.

I think this gives DAZN a chance to reboot around smaller names and British and international boxers, which imo benefits them.

Gives canelo a chance to return to being a ppv boxer which is what the face of the sport should be since fans like to do things around major fights.

I’m hoping this is a win win for everyone once the dust settles.
Canelo sold out Madison Square Garden when he went up to the northeast, bro. And he drew more than 50,000 down south in Dallas.

They damn well know who he is.

There is no other active fighter that would have been a better choice for this. DAZN just botched things badly.
