Called this one perfectly. DAZN is amateur boxing promotion at its worst. Followed that idiot Eddie Hearn and look what they have to show for it.

Paid Canelo for his brand but his brand is only as strong as the competition he faces. Paid for his presence when they should have paid for the matches. Now they want to take control after the fact.

All is happening just as predicted. Anyone who continues to invest in DAZN is a fool looking to part ways with there money.

It has been DAZN and/or Golden Boy who have not been able to get any of those bouts across the line for him.
Pretty easy to see you are a fan and that's all well and good, but do you not see how he is doing all this over things that are beyond any promoter or streaming service's control? How was he supposed to fight in May or Sept and get stellar money with a fkn pandemic going on? Put your fandom aside for a moment and think about it and it should make sense.

Nonsense. It's the pandemic. DAZN has done great things and pulled the biggest names in Boxing. Stop hating

Bro... How much evidence do you need. Still out here soiling your site name sticking up for bad business tactics.

DAZN is failing because it can’t match make for *****. Canelo isn’t on the shelf due to the pandemic. He is on the shelf because he is getting career best pay days to fight guys who can’t attract flies. Hating... more like truth telling.

Dan Rafael made this comparison on Twitter and I agree with it.
It’s like a baseball team that signed a big free agent to a 10 year deal but still aren’t making the playoffs.
They want out of it but the contract is fully guaranteed so they have to pay up.
Difference is a baseball team can seek to trade a player to another team.
There is no other team to trade Canelo’s contract. DAZN has started to play games.
According to Rafael the only “premium” opponents DAZN said they wanted were GGG, 2 UFC fighters and ... get this...47 year old Oscar De La Hoya. You can’t make this stuff up.

DAZN was a good idea but canelo might have been the wrong man to center things around.

A non English speaking fighter made it hard for them to sell subs outside of canelo’s base. This made it hard for them to sell subs In the north, south and eastern USA.

I think this gives DAZN a chance to reboot around smaller names and British and international boxers, which imo benefits them.

Gives canelo a chance to return to being a ppv boxer which is what the face of the sport should be since fans like to do things around major fights.

I’m hoping this is a win win for everyone once the dust settles.
Great comment and I like the optimistic vibe.

For better or worse, with this lawsuit, Canelo seems to be adopting the Mayweather model of being a free agent and only using the promotion for services in a fight by fight basis. Certainly more beneficial for him.

I'm curious where this will leave GBP and DAZN. DAZN may shrink it's US presence. I'm curious what their overall global outlook is, especially if they keep their money and lose Canelo.

I'm really curious about GBP. KingRy is one foot out the door following in Canelo's footsteps. I wonder if they can survive the loss of both their marquee names.

All I know is that I'm a fan of more fights, of all levels, on more platforms. I hope whatever outcome occurs somehow increases the amount of televised boxing and not decreases it.

DAZN is basically irrelevant here and they will be even more irrelevant without Canelo.

Boxing nerds? I'm not sure what exactly that means on a boxing forum. I'm a fan of a sport. I guess some are fans of individual men.
