Of course, Canelo should take less money because DAZN is losing money! Doesn't DAZN every other business voluntarily return money to their contractors and the public when they make more profits than anticipated? Oh, I guess they don't!Comment

I remember loeffler saying that GGG was promised a Canelo fight. Was that in the GGG's contract, or was it just verbal musings? I also recall that half of the compensation that Golovking receives from the DAZN is in the form of shares of stock. I suspect that DAZN shares are worth about as much as a bucket of spit.Comment

Lol. I think industry like Dan Rafael and Coppinger could foreshadow a 100 hints and you wouldn’t get it.. the subtext, more articles for the points they made across that doesn’t necessarily reflect the burden from Covid. Keywords such as “Premier” And approving names like Masvidal or Khabib show that DAZN would pay the full premium during Covid... lol “but Covid doe”Last edited by Thuglife Nelo; 09-09-2020, 07:05 AM.Comment

GGG doesn’t have “stock” just a promised reserve (savings account) for the amount promised. That’s the equity. GGG takes half cash and the rest to his reserve each fight to be paid in full when his contract ends... as The assumption was that DAZN would be bigger by the time GGG ends his contract.I remember loeffler saying that GGG was promised a Canelo fight. GGG did refuse the 3rd fight. It is well known that he refused and stated he would rather fight the next contender for his ibf title.
For all of the people clamoring for a third fight between Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Gennadiy ‘GGG’ Golovkin, there’s at least one person directly involved who doesn’t need to see it next. Johnathon Banks, a former cruiserweight contender and the current head trainer to Golovkin revealed he is not on board with such a fight should it have to be his first of 2020.Comment

Didn't GGG go on about his contract giving him equity (stock) in DAZN and he was in fact Canelo's boss?GGG doesn’t have “stock” just a promised reserve (savings account) for the amount promised. This goes back to Oscar De La Hoya.I remember loeffler saying that GGG was promised a Canelo fight. Was that in the GGG's contract, or was it just verbal musings? I also recall that half of the compensation that Golovking receives from the DAZN is in the form of shares of stock. I suspect that DAZN shares are worth about as much as a bucket of spit.
When they were negotiating with GGG in early 2019, Oscar said he could get Canelo do a GGG trilogy fight despite Canelo having no obligation to do so.
He did this to get his own DAZN deal for his GBP fighters.
This was news to Canelo who was done with GGG eating off his name.
This caused DAZN to try and force the GGG fight by not approving any other fighters and not paying up for opponents. It was confirmed by both sides that Canelo and Andrade were in talks to fight last September but DAZN wouldn’t do the fight. This would have been a unification fight that trumps any mandatories and allowed Canelo to hold all the MW titles which was his stated goal.
Then Haymon pulled some bs forcing the IBO mandatory despite Canelo just winning the title in his previous fight. Derevenchenko priced himself out then took the same amount offered to fight GGG.
All in all GBP is supposed to represent Canelo’s interests and they weren’t doing that. DAZN offered a contract they weren’t holding up their end of.
I think this ends with a settlement and Canelo not working with a single promoter. Doing each fight as a single deal to max out his earnings.Comment

No GGG said he was his own boss because DAZN literally had “GGG Promotions” as a client just like GBP and Matchroom. There is no Canelo Promotions under DAZN. That deal is inclusive with GBP’s deal. So for example, let’s say GBP was given $500mil then it’s GBP‘s responsibility to give to Canelo. The problem is DAZN has to approve each $40mil to GBP or else Canelo can’t get his pay.
GGG Promotins has had Rolls and Szeremeta. $7mil cash for each fight. GGG doesn’t have stock. Just a savings reserve.Comment
