It was already stated on the article that “premium” opponents are ones DAZN believes would get at least 800k buys if they were on ppv. So yes, by that definition, the Kovalevs and Jacobs and Smiths of the world are not premium.

This goes to show that DAZN just wanted to get out of paying Canelo his contractual amount. They are broke and instead of being honest with Canelo about their financial situation they pull this stunt. Those names are not realistic. GGG refused the 3rd fight, Mayweather is retired and has not fought in 2 years, DLH has been retired for 12 yrs, and Khabib and Masvidal are not even boxers plus they are contracted to the UFC.

The truth is DAZN does not have the money to pay Canelo anymore. The pandemic wiped them out. Canelo had no choice but to sue. DAZN should should let him go and face the inevitable and close. They did everything wrong from the beginning. They chose the wrong executive, they got into a deal with Hearn who only cared about his own promotional company, and they got behind the wrong fighter, GGG, to be the face of the company instead of Canelo who is the only superstar that boxing has right now.

      • He’s dining this because he wants to get back in the ring!? What a bozo. If he wanted to get back in the ring how about not demanding 35 million in the middle of a global freaking pandemic!?

        • Canelo fans girls:

"Everyone who hates on Canelo just hates him because they're white supremacists who hate seeing a Mexican #1."

So everyone is pulling their race card now?

DAZN isn't broke but they are realizing investing the way they did in boxing isn't making the type of impact they thought it would.

How is DAZN broke when they spent billions of dollars in the Germany futbol league? They are even spending money on BKB.

Now the Oscar comeback videos and training videos all make sense. Heck, he even alluded to possibly fighting Canelo. Guy was trying to be a team player lol.

GGG was never slated to be the face of DAZN.

GGG also never refused the 3rd Canelo fight. Its was Canelo who out right refused.

Where are you getting this **** from?

Nobody knows how GBP has behaved in this deal and if they broke contractual promises.
It will all come out in the wash and I am sure DAZN have clauses also especially in a pandemic and social lockdown......didn’t canelo have surgery that also delayed his schedule.
Huhhh? Canelo facing off with Alvarez???

                • So let me get this straight, Smith and Saunders among others are accused of ducking Canelo by his fans for declining 5 million dollar offers that they felt didn't pay them their worth, yet here is Canelo declining to fight them for around 17 million but the perspective is he's just fighting for what he deserves... Do I have that right?

OTT doesn’t need to rely on Live. OTT and streaming services make revenue and metrics off replays. Netflix users like to recall content. Its not about it being live to justify Canelo’s pay. Canelo is just a premier boxer that’s included in a subscription. Anybody who has an idea to watch back catalogue of fights on their huge tv with an easy interface will fork $20 and get a months worth.

Boxing fans Recall and watch fights all the time. Some of these fans like to watch it off apps which is the future. There are plenty of people who don’t care about pirate or YouTube streams of corroded uploads. They prefer to watch the fights via Smart TV apps off their 65 inch.

                    • What up and coming, top-young fighters are going to want to sign up with the DAZN or Golden Boy in the future after this fiasco? DAZN is run by stumblebums and Oscar is dishonest at best -- a pox on both their houses!
