Canelo May Not Fight in 2020?

Not me, I would have been surprised if things didn’t end up this way frankly. People love to put the cart before the horse.Who is genuinely surprised at this?
While Canelo doesn't want a paycut, these guys aren't fighting Canelo for peanuts equally. But it also goes to show fighting Canelo isn't really the same thing as people rushing to fight Manny or Floyd at their peaks which brought in massive PPVs (not even counting gate).
If I'm fighting someone with Canelo's clout I'd actually like people to watch let alone know where to tune in.
I know Oscar is involved in this current situation with Canelo/DAZN, but boy it makes me long for the time when he was fighting everyone and the fights didn’t seem that hard to make.
Btw If Oscar does come back id be cool to see him fight Sergio Martinez. I’m sure that makes too much sense from a true fan perspective and not enough dollars for the fringe fans to get on board.Comment

Can you post the full article?https://theathletic.com/2035943/2020...ight-in-doubt/
What a clutchphuck. Not having boxing's number one attraction fight in 2020 is terrible. If Jacobs/Kovalev are not considered good or premiere opponents, then who aside from GGG is considered that? If Canelo fought BJS or Smith, those two surely won't be considered premiere opponents. Andrade? Nope. Charlo? Nope. Plant? Nope. I want to see the list of opponents considered "premiere" for DAZN. Wanting Canelo to take a 50% pay cut is ridiculous. So because of the Canelo hold up, is that why no other cards have been announced yet for DAZN?
And interesting that Canelo doesn't have his own deal with DAZN. It makes sense that GBP leveraged Canelo to get their deal for the rest of the stable, but Canelo not having his own deal is interesting to say the least. Not sure why his management team would even sign off on something like that? DAZN is also clueless if they thought the Mayweather rematch could happen....And that it would happen on DAZN. ZERO percent chance even if Mayweather rematched Canelo that he wouldn't have it on SHO PPV.
Let's see how this ends up playing out.Comment

They're his promoter so they are a part if his deal. But they have their own deal also. What he's asking to see is the second one I quoted from the article. That's my understanding from reading it"Canelo doesn’t have his own contract with DAZN, sources tell The Athletic, but is part of Golden Boy’s pact with the platform." From todays Coppinger story.
The problem though is the Ali Act gives Canelos management the right to look at the books and he recently hired one of the top labor lawyers in CA. This really does not make sense but then DAZN and GBP are beyond amateur hour.Comment

Coppinger did a better job explaining it on the boxing voice. DAZN pays Golden Boy $40 million per Canelo fight. That's the contract between Golden Boy and DAZN. Golden Boy pays Canelo $35 mil per fight and the other $5 mil goes towards securing Canelo's opponent. That's the contract between Canelo and Golden Boy. Then there's a separate contract between Golden Boy and DAZN for non Canelo fights. Canelo wants to see the contract between DAZN & Golden Boy for his fights. You're correct he doesn't have a contract directly with DAZN."Canelo doesn’t have his own contract with DAZN, sources tell The Athletic, but is part of Golden Boy’s pact with the platform." From todays Coppinger story.
