Can we have a serious talk about women's boxing

Given the advances in science and technique...I still think either Taylor or Persoon could give fighters like Willie Pep and Sandy Sadlier a run for their money.Comment

It's awful to watch..
If I want to see windmills Id go for a short break to Holland..
In this PC world we now live in it will continue to be thrusted in our faces..
It should be on last, that way we know the time to turn the channel over without missing the other fightsComment

Boxing is dying so they thought they could replicate the UFC's success with broads fighting. Big fat fail there.
Instead of trying to copy MMA's worst aspects they should do the right thing and copy the good things like LESS TITLES and MORE BIG FIGHTS without a trillion stipulations. What a bunch of clowns that run this sport.Comment

And yes, those highly intelligent people in universities know that their ideas make no logical sense, but "logical sense" is another invention of The Patriarchy, created for the purpose of subjugating women and minority groups ...

It has a ways to go, yes, it's in it's infancy, relatively speaking and the relatively small numbers of female fighters will generally mean the skill level is lower... the way to remedy that is to support the female sport so more women get involved. What is no different to the men's sport - as beautifully exemplified by both Taylor vs Persoon fights - is the courage and will to win displayed by the fighters in the ring, and that is a huge part of what most of us enjoy watching. The Gatti vs Ward fights were hardly the sweet science at it's finest, man.
Formula 1 has a macho, charismatic glamour and excitement that sucks you in if you start watching it, even if you're not a petrol head and have no real interest in motor sports.
Go-Kart racing is just ... yawn, this is boring. What's on the other channel?
Another thought you might want to consider is that from a pragmatic point of view we could all benefit from having women onside with the sport, ain't just extra bums in seats and more money but it's also that it's the women more likely to be objecting to their sons going out and getting hit in the face or calling for bans on the sport way I look at it. What do you reckon might be a good way of getting more women onside with the sport? Myself I can't think of many better ways than encouraging greater female participation.
In fact, it could turn out to be something worse than zero-sum. As in, tuning into a boxing show and having to sit through hours of feather fisted females flailing away at each other in between the men's fights could turn potential fans off the sport as a whole.
Unfortunately, I was railroaded into watching that awful female fight last night because it was screened right before the main event, which I knew would probably be short and sweet.
I'm telling you mate, if I hadn't been so committed to not missing the main event, I would have tuned out of Taylor/Persoon well before the end.Last edited by kafkod; 08-23-2020, 10:13 AM.Comment

But at least the kid's fight would be over in a minute or 2. And after it finished, you wouldn't have to listen to talking heads trying to convince you that you just witnessed something momentous, something that would be remembered and talked about for generations to come ...Comment

But evolution led to highly intelligent people in universities who became "woke" and realised that gender was a social construct, with no basis in biological fact, and that men being selected for hunting, hard labor, war, etc, and women for childbirth, was an invention of The Patriarchy, created for the purpose of subjugating women and minority groups.
And yes, those highly inteligent people in universities know that their ideas make no logical sense, but "logical sense" is another invention of The Patriarchy, created for the purpose of subjugating women and minority groups ...
How about biologically men have testosterone and once upon a time nuts to go with it?
That was why we were hunter gatherer, women ain’t dragging home buffalo.
Matriarchy is a nightmare and any man that openly follows a woman over a man should be ashamed of themselves.
I have seen Women and Men leaders, you couldn’t make me willingly follow a woman at gun point.Comment

I put that there so non-woke people would know that I was taking the piss with that nonsense I wrote. >>>>Comment
