I used to share that opinion, probably until I saw Seniesa Estrada v Marlen Esparza last Fall. Bad-ass fight, 10 rd (3-minute rds) championship between two skilled fighters who genuinely disliked each other turned into the best fight of the night (Canelo v Kovalev card). I also thought the K. Taylor v D. Persoon was a fun scrap. I get that there are plenty of **** fights (e.g. Braekhus v. MsCaskill), but there are some quality female fighters these days, so I don't write the girls off anymore.
I still don't care for female boxing

Yes, the talent pool is still quite small with the females, but it is expanding, and with the top woman getting a lot more exposure now, this will see more athletically gifted, talented and powerful young woman take up the sport.I agree that was an entertaining fight. I had Persoon winning it also myself. I know there’s a lot of “controversial” decisions in boxing, mma, heck anything with a scoring system. It’s just part of it, and eye witnesses have proven to see things “differently” even compared to the person standing next to them. That also begs that if female boxing and especially when the best fight each other has a higher chance of going to the cards, then there’s more chances for “controversial” decisions. Which frustrates fans, and is definitely a put off to that all important fringe market who likes to say that everything is fixed. Id like to see more lighter weight females fight ( same with the lightest weights for men ). There’s gotta be a bigger pool of females that fit into that category? Fighters forced to be in perfect shape, lean and hard to make the weight? If Knockouts aren’t going to be a huge part of female boxing then I’d love to see at least the fastest and most skilled more often. I just think female boxing has sum catching up to do compared to a lot of sports and I’d like to see it get there. That’s more high level boxing for us.
I was amazed to see one judge gave Katie Taylor all of the first five rounds vs Persoon, which I thought was absolutely ridiculous. Carl Frampton who is friends with Katie Taylor scored the fight 98-92 Persoon.
I don't like it when people write off womens boxing and say it shouldn't be a thing. There's no reason at all for them not to box. And the top women generally do have boxing skills.Comment

How is women's boxing shoved down anyone throats.
The same way u don't have to watch guys at the lower weight classes fight is the same way you don't have to watch women's boxing
.......unless its personalComment

Few do. Female sports of interest are few to most people it seems like. A lack of power in boxing makes it one of the likely basic reasons it's not as much fun to watch as male boxing. The lower possibility of KO's & knockdowns makes it less appealing. The fact there are so few high level female boxers to fight each other is the death blow for casual interest in female boxing.Comment

Why not create a card featuring only women boxers and then the people who enjoy watching it can knock themselves out.
However we all know it won't happen because the ratings would be a complete disaster.
The only reason promoters are putting woman boxing on major cards is to appear woke.Comment

Shoving down throats is a bit of an overstatement, but promoters are pushing female boxing like never before despite lil fanfare from viewers & on forums like this one as best as I can tell.
When I started watching boxing usually there was one female boxer, maybe two, that was a novelty like showcase at best on lower level shows, ESPN usually iirc, at any given time. I do recall Christy Martin getting some PPV main card spots with Butterbean from time to time & Laila Ali got her own PPV once. Now we got damn near every promoter trying to build a female or two up with spots on main cards.
But yea you can just go make some food or make a run to the store instead if you so choose during those fights.
Random question for anyone is there any evidence all this female boxer promotion is having impact on bringing more female fans to boxing?Comment

I reckon women's boxing goes alright. Probably because boxing is all about divisions - these are just new divisions. It's arguably more credible than watching a couple of short arses fight in the featherweights.
With other sports I don't get on board. It's a lesser version of the actual sport.
If you like watching boxing then I can't understand not enjoying Katie Taylor's fights.Comment

Im sick of them endlessly shoving womens sports down our throats, they are literally reporting on prime time BBC news about some ****ty team signed some unknown ****ty female football player that no one knows, its the same with every sport. no one ****ing cares, its the equivilent to watching amateur mens sports, even less so in some instances, the quality is so poor its laughable.
If it wasnt bad enough that you cant escape the constant promotion of ****ty womens sports, ALL the mens sports programmes are hiring women to give their opinions, its actually pathetic. Like i should be listening to an ex female 'pro' who never came close to being on the level on anyone they talk about.
If you say anything, your sexist. This is the world we live in. I love women, but im sick to death of this BS. I, as a sports fan want to watch high quality sports. womens sports (with few exceptions) is not high quality and neither is it particularly entertaining in most cases. unless you like watching low quality fights with little to no skill and zero punching power that ends of going to a decision in practically every single ****ing fight.
I dont know whether to laugh or cry when i hear Adam Smith on Sky claiming ' the crowd are going wild at the sight of the superstar that is Katie Taylor' the crowd is near enough silent.
this is my personal favourite from him 'Katie Taylor is a p4p fighter men or women' FFS
