how do you know that's the first offer? arum is already talking about an ultimatum...$1.2m take it or leave it. if espn will not increase the pot there's no way lopez is getting more than that. and do you really think he's worth more than that?
i remember when jacobs confronted jermall charlo, he said something about charlo not seeing a million purse yet. by that time charlo was already a 2 division champ but he wasn't worth a million in a time when there was no pandemic.
you and the other posters are shamefully overstating lopez's value.

I remember when Lopez demanded the Loma fight for 2019, claiming they couldn't make weight any longer than that and it was a duck if Loma didn't fight him. Now he gets his offer, doesn't want it but can stay at 135 and make weight for easier fights until 2021

He apparently is another of these new age fighters that use media to talk chit and gain a following, yet when the time comes to lace them up, they go missing.
Loma must be chomping at the bit to embarrass this mofo after all the crap he has said.

Seeing other fighters fight with hardly any resume earning 2/3/4 times that amount is a dangerous precedent to set for boxing and its future... it's bumping everyone else's self value up..
This pandemic is probably a godsend in terms of the way boxing was heading financially with the fees being put onto the paying public's shoulders.. some deals some boxers have in place is ridiculous so from another boxers point of view asking for more money than face value I can't fault them.. I don't agree with it but can't fault them nonetheless...
Ultimately, it's ironic that the people who pay these wages are the ones who are missing out on fights they want to see...
Until fans stop paying to watch garbage matchups/cards then fees/expected fees will only snowball imo...

I hope we're wrong. Some guys drag their feet and end up getting a little more money. If so good for him and I'll give full credit, but not looking good at the moment. Hard to negotiate with a guy who thinks putting food on the table costs over $1.2M
