Do you think the purse reduction is essentially Arum moving the show from ESPN PPV to regular ESPN?
I have no idea but I can't imagine Lopez takes this fight without making at least $2M. They did lose the live gate which could have possibly approached a million or maybe a tad more. Lomachenko's purse he got is pretty much guaranteed in his contract and that's how much he always makes. But putting on a fight on regular ESPN when both main event fighters purse total is over 5 million is tough, especially without a gate.

Hopefully they figure this out though.

His compensation should reflect that, right?

I’m not saying it should be a 50/50 split but he is a champion in his own right. if you feel champs should get more, the split should be a little better than 75/25 right?
Does he though? What history does Lopez have of drawing at this moment? Not saying he can't, but he hasn't done it yet. Lomachenko is a good draw, but not a great draw himself. But he has at least done gates over 500-800k and had one over a million against Linares I believe.

If he really believes he is such a sure thing to win he should take the fight. If he wins he is in the driver's seat for future fights. Loma is the proven great fighter. He has lots of other good opponents if Lopez won't fight.

75/25 is too much imo. Could see 2 to 1 or probably 60/40. 3 to 1 is heavy, I don't blame Lopez. As you said, he is generating revenue for this fight too, not just Loma.

Bob should just replace this moron and give this opportunity to someone else who wants a paycheck. How foolish of these fighters believing they are worth just as much as they did before this quarantine hit?

He and Loma are going to be fighting in a bubble without a live gate and no spectators. Top Rank would lose a lot of money paying him $3mil plus and Vasiliy lomachenko's guarantee too.

Yeah i was gonna say Teo is messing up not taking it, but he’s also a champ and a 75-25 split seems kind of low when you consider Loma isn’t even that huge a draw all things considered. 60-40 sounds more fair

Lomachenko's guarantees for every fight are similar to this one. He made similar amount, if not more for Crolla. The problem is that this fight won't sell well on PPV and Arum doesn't want to take a loss. Then it's probably a little too pricey for regular ESPN. I still have hope it gets done though.

What other good options does Lomachenko really have though? Not in the immediate future at least. Maybe he can go down and fight Berchelt/Valdez winner or Stevenson sometime next year. But for this year? Not seeing it.

Just take the money eh? Why? Because Top Rank told him to take it? Fyi, Beterbiev and Gvozdyk both made at least 1.5M in their bout and that fight wasn't CLOSE to being as big as this one. It's a tough situation for TR as I alluded to in my prior post, but Lopez shouldn't just take whatever they want him to take. Obviously shouldn't be demanding something crazy like a 5M purse either.

Let's see how this plays out. Still have time until October 3rd and Arum may be able to increase his purse so we get this unification bout.

This fight will still be on PPV because the licensing fee and the purse is too high for a regular ESPN broadcast; In excess of nearly $5 mil. I think Top Rank will bend a little more and give him at least somewhere close to $2 mil' Probably $1.7 mil would be the max.
