I think Ortiz is ready for the Top Fighters! I think maybe Ray Robinson, David Avanesyan maybe even Jesse Vargas would be very good step up fights for him. Vargas would be perfect, if he can stop Vargas that would be very impressive! Him and Maurice Hooker both from Dallas, Texas, that would be a good one stylistically as well

Props to GBP they're promoting him and bringing him along perfectly. No need to try and rush him in with a Crawford or Spence Jr or any of those Top 3-4 guys right now but 2021 give him the green light to try and hunt them all down 1 by 1

He's on their level now. He beat the living daylights out of Vargas, so nothing can be taken from him from that fight. Of the three, I think he struggles most with DSG. I agree with Vergil that Thurman is a great style match for him, and he's got more firepower. Porter will push him, but he's not that great of a puncher and Vergil is way too smart to lose close rounds to Porter. Vergil could very well out work and outslug DSG, but Danny is still crafty enough to drag him into a long and tough fight and good enough of a puncher to really hurt him if he gets loose with the defense.

I think Vergil is a pick 'em against pretty much any of the WW elite except TC. Yes, I'm including Spence, even before the crash.

I think Vergil wrecks all of those guys with next to no sweat. Hoping he gets Thurman next, but I strongly doubt that Thurman takes that kind of a risk. Thurman wants one more fight with Pac and then retirement.

I've heard he has been giving his ass handed to him by Tank Davis in the gym.

That’s cause he knows Crawford is not willing to take a pay cut to fight. Spence has not been deemed medically clear to resume boxing. Pacquiao is busy running his country amidst a pandemic. Kid is full of ambition but in reality those fights for him are a far cry

He'll be the best in the division one day, I predict.

I've never been wrong either...except for about 20 or 30 times.

seriously though, the kid looks like the real deal.

The kid is 22 years old and already fighting a veteran like Vargas , who is no pushover
This kid will be the face of boxing
He's charismatic , well spoken and is getting a good push from GBP’s
I think he would of taken Vargas out earlier if Garcia was in the corner
I mean, you answer it yourself. He's 22 years old. He's still got time.

There's generally a progression top fighter take. It goes something like fight local bums, then fight the top local guys, then fight some journeymen fighters nationally, then take on someone like you (young, undefeated, gunning for a title), then fight old ex champions and top contenders, then fight champions/for championship belts. Vargas is a journeyman, Ortiz still has many steps to go.

Looks like he put a little muscle during the time off, looks more like a WW now

Vargas did OK to get to Ortiz's body I thought - round 2 I thought he elicited a slight reaction and turned it up fo ra minute or so straight and Vargas didn't really defend his body. In rd 6 when he had Vargas hurt and against the ropes, Vargas actually got him to back off momentarily by going to his body, which is kind of rare to see IMO. I think Ortiz has to work on defend body shots a little better

... but I do like some of what I saw in how Vergil is dealing with guys tyring to come on to him.....a couple fights ago he was doing quite a bit of pushing, he had some in this fight but I see him trying take an angle and use his shoulder. And with the extra strength I think it help to seal things up.

Pretty cool with the no fans you can hear all the punches and not hear anything with the misses. Hear visceral burps and grown men trying to suck in the pain. Reminds me of being at little club fights back you could hear everything.

                      ****ing beast for 22

Next like to see him vs someone with more speed or middle of the road contender, and/or prospect vs prospect like Rashidi Ellis
