Either Canelo take this fight on shorts or risk DAZN going completely and permanently out of business. It's his choice. They are in near financial ruin and could use a loan to seriously pay off their debts.
Canelo understands the current climate we are living in. Without a live gate DAZN doesn't stand a chance of matching his guarantee.
The upside of this is it's only temporary and he is still working and has a job. That's more than what 40 million Americans can say. -

How is this any different than Floyd's opponents being paid $5M or less while he was getting paid $35M+? Guerrero, Ortiz, Maidana, Berto weren't worth more than what they were paid. If Smith is worth more than what he is being offered then let him find that money against another opponent. Canelo will need to match against opponents that will bring in the revenue to pay for his inflated contract. They took a huge loss on the Kovalev fight and without a GGG trilogy they'll be bleeding even more revenue.Comment

DAZN is like any other company, they expect their employees to take less during the pandemic since revenues are down.
It’s hard to fault DAZN if they will only approve ggg given the circumstances.Comment

I'm not sure how easy that would be but it's really dependent on what Canelo wants to do the next 2-3 years. If DAZN has these same pockets, why would he leave with that kind of guarantee? I can see him and GB splitting 1st being he has a direct contract w/ DAZN that runs to 2023. I don't know how many fights he has left with GB but he resigned last year just before the Kovalev fight. Most re-ups are 2 year / 4 fights which if that is the case this next fight, GGG in May and 1 more would be his last w/ Golden Boy (don't quote me though). I highly doubt he's going to resign when his contract is up.Comment
