    Canelo vs Cotto 800k
Canelo vs Khan was 600k just verified that number
Canelo vs GGG 1 million plus twice
Even the Mayweather fight did 2.4 million and yes it was Floyd was a star but Floyd only hit massive numbers when he fought other stars, de la Hoya, PAC, Canelo, McGregor, so yeah Canelo had something to do with that. You like to mention Canelo's early fights to make your point, so it just sounds like a hater. Even when boxing stars start their careers they don't sell big PPV, that comes once you get established.

Mike Tyson didnt do it with everyone and he benefitted greatly from some legendary names in his own division just as much as he did from his own. Hell, even the epic Holyfield fight was as much Holyfield as it was him, and Canelo and Floyd surpassed that.

How much did Floyd do vs Berto? Judah? Baldomir?

You forget that Ortiz was hugely hyped for years and had beat the equally hyped and undefeated Berto for that fight. We ALL wanted to see that fight and tons even said he’d “never fight that lion”(lmao) It was a big fight. As much as I and many hate to admit it, floyd didnt do that one alone.

Robert himself was a fair name, multi weight champ, and was on a tear; also got the shot after Berto. This is actually what’s made Floyd such a money making genius. He historically has been at best a decent ppv draw (300-400 is not exactly bad numbers) alone but he was great at picking the right dance partners at the right time and he had every Pac fan dying to see him lose for years until they fought.

      As for Canelo.
Canelo and Cotto did over 900k man, your nitpicking here lol. That’s huge numbers especially considering Cotto’s age and how no one REALLY thought Cotto was going to win. Khan? Iirc was in the 500s. Impressive for such a s hit show and it’s kind of baffling tbh. Beefy? 3-400s? Impressive af as well considering people STILL dont know who he is even after Canelo.

Chavez Jr is a big name and despite also being hopelessly overmatched was over a mil. The GGG fights, yada yada.

Let’s not take anything away from the ginger, he’s got unusual drawing power and he’s not even American and doesn’t even bother to speak English 90% of the time..yet here we are talking numbers in America.

this was your original statement "Canelo lowest PPV buys was 400,000 against Lara, all other bouts brought at least 500,000". You were wrong, but instead of just admitting that you were wrong, you go off on a tangent. There is no verified proof that Canelo vs khan did over 600 k, so you're lying by saying "I just verified" as if you have an hbo connect. All of those fights I mentioned weren't early in canelos career. They were all after his fight with Floyd and from 2014- 2016, and he stopped doing ppvs in 2018 once he went to dazn. So they're all very relevant #s.

Tyson did over a mil ppv buys with Peter McNeely, razor ruddock and frank bruno.

Stop trying to talk up who guerrero and Ortiz were at the time. Ortiz had already quit vs maidana and guerrero was never thought of as a threat. He's the equivalent of angulo. Yet floyd still did over a mil.

Cotto was the 3rd biggest draw of his era behind Floyd and pac and he vs Canelo didn't crack a mil. Those numbers were a disappointment to all involved. Cotto may have been older but his consecutive performances vs Rodriguez, Martinez and geale under Freddie roach had many thinking he had a chance (even if it was fools gold). Canelo was only a 3-1 favorite, it was Mexico vs PR and they couldn't crack a mil??

Here's the bottom line, yes Canelo is a big draw, but no, he's not on the level of past ppv draws line Floyd pac, Oscar or Tyson. His fights vs lesser named fighters don't draw the type of buzz to warrant his contract and he will need a solid name/perceived threat to do big numbers for dazn. Therefore, guys who perceive themselves to fit that bill will want to get paid accordingly. Because in reality, who the fk wants to see Canelo vs Anthony dirrell?

His fanatics will be more than happy to see canelo fight dirrell, rob brant, any fighter desperate to take what they can get- which is a key giveaway they aren't the best partners out there: LIKE kovalev, who admitted he took it for the money.
Canelo wants to cash out while leaving out the guy's that are responsible for giving those fights high viewership. alongside him. Almost to create some sorta myth about himself along the way- "I aways made 30 mil while my opponents made 5" type thing going on. Its canelo (by way of him or his team) trying to seem bigger than he really ever was...he didn't have a dance partner after lil g that would've cracked 1 mil buys in sight back then. And doing lower numbers on his next PPVs would've hurt him in negotiations the way they hurt manny and eventually forced him to accept testing against Floyd. So he jumped at the contract dazn offered because it had guaranteed him 100s of millions. And dazn was in a very desperate situation to make that offer. People forget how bad dazn was doing before GBP went to them: match room was not keeping them afloat and never has been- its been GBP keeping the app floating. They should've went to Showtime.
