I had researched this awhile back watching and reading everything about it and found a press conference where Arum was announcing some fights and yes they had split .I found some articles where people were drooling over the fight and that Floyd turned down a huge payday.During the conference Arum was asked about Floyd saying he would fight anybody as long as the money was right.Arum went on to say Floyd would fight anyone who wasn’t named margarito.

I find that strange since Arum also said Floyd would fight Margarito but as part of it wanted a certain amount of money to De La Hoya, Cotto, and Hatton, which he was unwilling to give him.

Arum said while Mayweather would have taken the $8 million to fight Margarito, he asked for a $10 million guarantee to fight opponents such as Miguel Cotto and Ricky Hatton, when Arum was only willing to guarantee $7 million.

Arum said Mayweather also asked for $20 million to fight De La Hoya, a fight Arum said he wasn't interested in participating in.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. rejected promoter Bob Arum's $8 million offer to fight welterweight titlist Antonio Margarito, and he instead exercised a provision in his contract to buy Arum out.

"Arum and Diaz say that the 'Pretty Boy' was offered in the neighborhood of $7 million to face Margarito. In what could best be described as a 'business move', the same guy who brazenly challenged the bigger Winky Wright decided to bypass Margarito, to collect nearly $4 million to spar with Sharmba Mitchell.

"Flat turned him down like you can not believe," Arum said of Mayweather when he was offered a chance at the WBO title. "Any time we raised his name, Mayweather went crazy."

Um. He made 25 million for De La Hoya.

De La Hoya, with his sparkling image and bigger name at the time, made $52 million to Mayweather’s $25 million, which also made it the biggest payday in boxing history.

Thousands upon thousands of boxing’s fringe fans will drop in for Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao on May 2, exercising their rights to throw down pay-per-view dollars only when it appears thrills are a sure thing.
Also, go see how much he made for the other guys.

              You're welcome.

And you don't know how Mayweather secured his bigger paydays by ditching Arum, I guess.

Here's an entire article on it if you care to educate yourself.

Floyd Mayweather paid $750,000 to get out of his contract in 2006, and it made him hundreds of millions

"He wants $20 million for the De La Hoya fight? It's not there. Sometimes, my man, you gotta know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. We'll talk about things down the road," Arum said.

A year later, Mayweather made $25 million in a fight against De La Hoya that still holds the record for total pay per view buys.

ill post it again since you are having comprehension issues

De La Hoya was guaranteed $23.3 million and Mayweather $10 million for the fight

floyd demanded a 20 million guarantee as part of the margarito deal

why was he demanding so much before but happily took 10 later?

we dont know how much he would have made if he had stayed. thats a counterfactual. what we do know is he asked for 20 as part of the marg deal then later changed to 10 when marg wasnt part of the deal
