until you realise that sergio was a welter too, so it tips things in his favour. What you really mean is why didny GGG manage to win anything above MW.

The Pavlik win tops GGG's whole resume anyway.
The Pavlik that had literally just come out of alcohol rehab?
It is the second time this year that Pavlik has entered rehab; he only stayed two weeks the first time. Dunkin said Pavlik defended the middleweight title against Sergio Martinez on April 17 in Atlantic City, about 10 days after being released from the world-renowned clinic the first time.

I have read another account says his first rehab stint was in January so I ain't sure which is accurate, but either way...

Dude even acknowledges he'd been an alcoholic since pretty much beating JT, man. Sergio's one of my favourite fighters ever, and I absolutely ain't trying to discredit him but the Pavlik that Maravilla fought wasn't the dude that beat Taylor.

So maybe he saw Rubio as a paper champ and since Golovkin won everything off a vacancy, I’m sure there was no reason to take Golovkin seriously. You must understand that Sergio had put in the work but was never afforded the opportunity to receive those vacant handouts. So why would he make it that easy on Golovkin? Think man
Another post in another thread that contradicting yourself with your own argument all because of your own agenda.

        This is you

"GGG was paper champ so Martinez never took him serious"

        "GGG ducked Martinez"

"GGG ducked charlo" but by your own admission why would GGG take Charlo serious when see your own damn point above "GGG was a paper champ so Martinez didnt take him serious"

Who did Charlo beat for that WBC belt? Oh yeah, he didnt beat anyone, he was literally gifted the belt.

        You forget that?

Who did Andrade beat for the VACANT WBO belt?

So Charlo and Andrade are just as trash as GGG right because they "didnt fight champions".

        He ducked Derevychanko?

Yeah, because Canelo tested positive for PEDs right? And you expect GGG to fight Derevychanko and then in 2 months turn around and fight Canelo right?

I'd bet ****ing money you think Canelo didnt duck Derevychanko because "he didnt want to pay him" lmfao.

Gaele was stripped because he didnt want to fight GGG who was his mandatory. He later knocked Gaele out.

Canelo vacated the WBC belt because he didnt want to fight GGG. GGG later fought Canelo in two highly competitive controversial fights that anyone who isnt a bias fangirl knows GGG won at least one. Wanna defend that 118-110 Canelo card?

GGG beat Lemieux for the IBF.

That's 3 out of the 4 belts right there and 2 guys didnt even want to fight GGG while holding that belt.

"GGG only fights for vacated belts"

Yeah because it's his fault that the "champs" dont want to fight him just like it was his fault he fought Vanes instead of Canelo when Canelo got caught with PEDs right?

What a ****ing low IQ hater

I'm not supposed to be doing anything, man, Im just trying to add context to the debate. More information is good surely?

If you believe Sergio will leave a more respected legacy I ain't gonna waste my time trying to argue you out of it. I'm happy to wait for the opinions of the historians of the future... Far as I can see it none of us here are really in a position to claim some monopoly on objectivity.

Martinez has the Ws over Williams and Pavlik.

Exactly WHO has the Triple "B" Side beaten?

Beating Taylor is MILES ahead of anything Bumlovkin has ever done in his career.

As are the Bumlovkin nut huggers. They're completely divorced from reality.

But yeah, not to discredit Cotto, but Martinez was completely cooked by that point. Doesn't take any way of how epic his run was when he came out of nowhere and took boxing by storm.
Yeah I saw Cotto come up and he was in great fights like with Torres. He was just the anti Trinidad when it came to personality. “What? For the fans?” I thought the crab walking and strafing style of Martinez would fluster Cotto. Martinez was lucky to get that win in Argentina in retrospect. Argentinian’s are great athletes. They hid the severity of Sergio’s knee injury and his physical condition. That’s boxing I guess, everyone’s in their best shape and had a great camp, until after they lose and then they tell u everything went wrong. To be fair I don’t remember Martinez making excuses post fight, he always seemed to be a pretty classy guy. I know he portrayed himself a bit of a model at times, but he was a good looking guy, and did come to fight. But yeah the extra long shorts covering the double knee braces wasent a good sign. I always remember the first round, but Martinez did hang in the there much longer than most remember.
