I get it, they fought a lot of no hopers, as was part of the landscape of the sport in those days with the sheer amount of active professionals, but most of them also fought all the best fighters around them through multiple weight classes without marinating.
    Different times buddy sporting nostalgia is very much emotionally driven by fans on about the good ol days where men were men , has nothing to do with the true ability of the players its more about how the story interprets their ability .

    I dont believe in GOAT for anyone, way to many variables for my way of thinking.

        I pretty well agree with the last part. It’s impossible to compare really. What I do know, is the mindset is different these days. Fighters make more money and have more control. They learned from the way past fighters got used up. It’s hard to imagine how the history of the sport would look if fighters of bygone eras were as selective in general as some fighters these days.
