Golovkin Makes it Official: Canelo Has to Wait, Szeremeta First!

Can someone explain to me why it’s such a big deal for GGG to honor the Szeremeta commitment before fighting Canelo?

He’s exploiting the terms of his guaranteed contract with DAZN, from a business standpoint you can’t blame him. It’s pretty smart tbf.

As a fan though I’d much rather see GGG face Canelo than Szeremeta. I don’t think anybody gives a sh** about seeing GGG face Szeremeta.

I can’t speak for the people who are.

I just would obviously have preferred to see Canelo-GGG 3 than GGG-Szeremeta.

Id say mainly because Canelo has been “ducking” the trilogy fight and now GGG is the one to put it off even longer. He’s just shooting himself in the foot age wise but I guess he’s can make an easy payday before the big one. That’s IF Canelo decides to fight him May 2021

if im canelo i will move on, fight at 168 from now on, he was already making a concesion by agreeing to 160, let him follow the money man at 168... 2021 fine, but at 168, canelo will be in a much better position then...

What I don't get is, shouldn't Golovkin forget about the mandatory and look to fight someone at SMW as a tune up before Canelo? I mean their fight isn't likely to take place at 160, and Canelo was set to face BJS.......At 168. So that's where I'm not getting Golovkin's logic at all. Does he think Canelo will come down to 160 after BJS or whoever he fights next for the trilogy? Seems like wishful thinking to me.
