Golovkin Makes it Official: Canelo Has to Wait, Szeremeta First!

“I made a commitment before all this situation with coronavirus happened,” Golovkin said. “I’m talking about my fight with Szeremeta. I intend to keep my word. Once the situation changes, as soon as everything is back to normal, I intend to have this fight first.”
Gennady Golovkin knows Saul “Canelo” Alvarez's team wants the boxers to complete their trilogy when sports return, but 'GGG' insists the Kamil Szeremeta fight will come first.

No surprise, but this time from Golovkin's own mouth. So looks like May 2021 for the Canelo trilogy....That is if Canelo is okay with that. He may just decide to go in another direction.

What a cherrypicker. IBF hasn't even ordered the fight and GGG wants to go ahead and fight this guy because DAZN is dumb enough to pay millions of dollars for this fight. Plus he knows his fans will buy the whole mandatory excuse despite the fact it was never ordered

I understand it's the IBF, he wanted to keep his word and giving a contender a shot that otherwise normally wouldn't get one buuut...**** that. No one cares about this fight. If he's looking to improve on things, Kamil isn't the fighter that's going to show much. An aging fighter is more prone to injuries and that's all it could take to completely ruin any plan you had. Waste of time.

Yep, so the longer GGG waits, the harder he makes it on himself. But if he's fine with it and prefers another route, then so be it. That is his call and his choice.

I disagree, the longer the better for ggg. Canelo would beat ggg anyday... ggg is benefiting from taking one more fight out his DAZN deal and also getting older so when he does get his ass whooped it’ll be justified that’s much more

I didn’t expect much from Golovkin, a guy who has only beaten one champion for a belt in his whole career. Everything else he has gotten as a hand me down Vacated title

Can someone explain to me why it’s such a big deal for GGG to honor the Szeremeta commitment before fighting Canelo?

DAZN are being robbed blind by these big name fighters. DAZN need to learn from their mistakes ASAP.
