I think globally boxing still reigns for now, there are a few legitimate boxing countries that exist where boxing is one of their nations top sports.

However in the US MMA is the more popular of the two, especially with Mayweather out of the picture and the supposed savior of American Heavyweight boxing being made a fool of by a large British gypsy.

I consider them neck and neck i the US more or less, and they have been for quite a long time now. It was 06/07 when the UFC started rapidly gaining traction and by 09/10 the gap was pretty much closed.

If you look at the individual measurable stuff - UFC is a more consistent PPV draw but the biggest drawing PPV fights historically are boxing, Floyd/Pac did around double the buys of the biggest drawing UFC PPV ever. UFC has better online/social media engagement (Youtube views, IG followers and all that ****). TV ratings are equal. Boxing has the bigger talent pool (both globally and domestically) and pays better.

Honestly yes MMA is more popular. MMA fights draw more crowds with the bar scene and younger audience.

Boxing has better PPV numbers but I'll say they have a pretty dumb fan base think Connor would beat Floyd
