I think having never won a fight where he was a clear underdog is what keeps Floyd from ever being mentioned as the GOAT. Hard to be the greatest when you only win fights you're supposed to win.

He never had that Ali vs. Liston/Foreman fight or Leonard vs. Hagler.

Top fighter of a generation and greatest boxing businessman all-time for sure.

    Goat or near goat? Naw.

Why do Mayweather fans get so offended about people talking to him.

The OP isn’t negative or slanderous, there’s nothing wrong with objectively analysing a retired fighter. Stop being so over-protective.

Floyd’s resume was exceptional, especially in terms of name value. The only thing that devalues his resume is the lack of elite fighters in their prime.

Floyd's resume is amazing, Elite, ATG, etc. He fought every one of any relevance during his era, even a couple from the past and future eras. People just like to nitpick. Floyd is definitely a top 10 ATG.

floyd's resume is like a literal curriculum vitae. nothing interesting and has a lot of holes that is exactly fitted the folder's clip. shouldn't be talking about and kept hidden in the drawer. his resume is just a so so for an applicant. easily top 25 for me or generously #21.

actually that's the truth he ducked margarito, a glass chin khan and a prime pac (2009).. i don't see why he ducked khan coz it's a good match up.. a glass hands vs glass chin.

for cherry picking part? yes he does that every time. always low risk and high demand. he fought top fighter when they are declining and damaged..

so i'm not really impressed but his resume is not that bad for a ducker.

            2 points:

            1. He was the underdog against Corrales.

            2. This is really weird to hold it against someone that they are always favored. DO you do this in other sports?

For example-is Lewis Hamilton not great because he is expected to win every F1 race? Were the 72-10 Bulls not the best because they were favored to beat everyone? What about the Brazilian soccer teams with Pele? The 27 Yankees? The great Montreal Canadians hockey Teams? The 85 Bears? UConn's women's Hoops? Kareem's UCLA teams? Cael Sanderson in NCAA wrestling? Serena? Simeone Biles?

Floyd is literally the only athlete/team you and others hold dominance and not losing against. In every other sport winning and being the clear favorite over other professionals is a sign of greatness and a something that earns respect.

Its not a sense of being over protective. It's wondering why people refusing to fight him is held against his resume. It's also wondering why he seems to be the only fighter whose resume is evaluated by who he didn't fight rather than who he did fight.

Floyd fans just want the same criteria used to analyze his resume as we do with every other fighter. I don't think that is too much to ask.

I think most of Floyd's later wins as a megastar were against guys coming off their own big wins. Baldomir was the lineal champ, Hatton was undefeated, Mosely wrecked the undefeated Margarito, Ortiz was in FOY against Berto, Cotto got his revenge off Margarito, Guerrero was on a hot streak, Alvarez had just unified with Trout, and Maidana had just beaten Broner. Oscar and Manny weren't on hot streaks but were megastars in their own right. The only fights where the opponents and fight weren't 'hot' was probably the Judah, Berto, and Marquez.

Nah it’s definitely over protective, whenever a guy makes a Floyd thread the same people always jump straight down their throat, like it’s illegal to question anything regarding Floyd to some people.

I get some anti-Mayweather guys constantly troll and stuff but some guys just wanna discuss his career objectively.

                    Yikes...lot of cringe here

Margs went 7-2 against very average fighters, 2 of those 7 against Kermit Cintron

Margs 7th win was versus Cotto which, prior to Mosley fight, came into significant controversy.

Margs was beaten badly and stopped by an old Mosley...yet Floyd somehow ducked this man.

How do you fight DLH, Manny, Canelo, Mosley, and Cotto but duck a Margarito ??? Its just not a thing

It is good. After Hatton did too much cherrypicking. Too many excuses when it came to avoiding fighting elite fighters in their prime. Needed far too many advantages over c level fighters like Robert Guerrero and Marcos Madonna.
