I doubt he miscalculated this - he's way too experienced not to see someone hurt. I think he just didn't have the aggression in him to finish the job + I wonder if their warm and fuzzy feelings to each other played a part for Wlad, as the older and the wiser one.
It's funny how people like you easily forgot that Wlad himself was seriously hurt in the previous round and was still recovering despite that hammer straight right hand. We have to give credit to both fighters for their hart that night.

Banks was just seeking attention and he has got it. Good for him.

Speaking of that, I also considered that the presences of the 'Bronze-Bomber' at ringside, was the reason why these two hesitated to go for it. Klitschko must of had a reality check of his age in the fifth round, and thought that fighting Deontay was going to be far worse, but A.J had not secured his future yet -- Josh must of thought ' I can duck Wilder, Eddie will think of something! YEAH! I can do this! ' and the rest is history.
AJ ducking Wilder? You have just won the comedian of century award. Cong****!

Imagine being a champion for over 10 years & not being able to finish an opponent who is finished letting them catch a second wind

All he had to do was setup one power punch off the jab

          but no

total useless bum who fell apart when two big young men came after him.

Fury picks apart ANY version of Wlad.
You, the undisputed armchair champion, should demand for the next fight against AJ and show the whole how easily you can finish AJ. ******!

Ultimately, Vlad lost because he was 41 years old and hadn't fought in 2 years.

Vlad from 3 years earlier kicks AJ's ass & the referee stopped the fight too early as well.

I felt like Wlad did go for it in that round, he just got left hook happy and kept on missing the last shot he needed.

And then for AJ's part, he did his best to avoid those and I'm surprised he did given he was rattled...he even got under a couple while hurt. I think Wlad gave a good shot at the stoppage -

It was a great fight and I agree with Banks when he said "He performed better in that fight than most people thought he had in his entire career". He looked very good that night, really no shame in going out like that.

As I replayed the fifth round, I noticed how impressively fast Joshua's punches were ; the energy that Joshua spent ( which forced Wladimir to the mat ), must of emptied A.J's gas-tank.

It appears that Anthony Joshua had more energy in the sixth-round to defend against Wladimir Klitschkos assault, after 'Dr Steel Hammer' dropped Joshua with that devastating trademark straight-right-hand. Just look at how A.J was bouncing and moving around the ring for survival, compare that to the way he ( Joshua ) was leaning against the ropes in closing minute of the fifth round.

Final note, Wladimir Klitschko and Andy Ruiz hurt Joshua when they appeared to be vulnerable coming off the floor ; perhaps A.J underestimated the old-man and the chubby Snicker-bar eating massive underdog, Anthony got away with it once, but paid the second time -- will Anthony underestimate Kubrat Pulev?
Wow! I'm impressed! An unbiased analysis! Now just let that Wilder bias go, and maybe you'll be a legit poster. Thank you for some truth! I appreciate your flag btw, even in spite of all the contention I've given you. Still think your full of a lot of it, but got to give credit where its due.
