Can someone explain what Monzon in particular did that was so exceptional? And have most people putting him so high actually watched film on him? Sincere questions.

I've watched him plenty. He has possibly the best jab ever, maybe even better than Holmes'. His straight punching in general was exceptional. He defended well, he had a great chin. Really a great boxer overall. He wasn't that fast but his timing was impeccable.

The fact you just called Robinson a single division champ shows how little you know. I don't tend to think of heavyweights in those terms as they fight in an open division.

And it's not just HW as I can think of greater single division rulers.

Now this is comical, especially when there were several GREATER middleweights than Monzon in terms of "greatness", but also "head to head".

It's always almost impossibly difficult to compare fighters from different eras.
That said, among Monzon's 9 draws, 7 were when he was fighting in his home country, where he was a national hero.

And he damn sure isn't the best "anything" of his division of all time as I can think of several fighters who were better in their respective divisions than Monzon.
