None of this would have happened if Lomachenko didn't give up the belt to avoid a mandatory. The Franchise belt is just as bogus.

This stuff will never fly in any other sport. What a joke. I hope he is proud of beating absolutely no one for that belt.
Shame on boxing for this.
Imagine if a team can just complain about not being champion, and then the commissioner hands them the championship title? That would be comedy. Only in boxing can you see comedy like this. 100% a paper champ, has beaten no one of note, beat no one for the belt. An actual fraud right here.

Undeserved path to a title, but Ive seen fighters facing worse fighters for vacant titles and he actually called out lomachenko.
2) Haney was injured after his last fight in september and was sidelined for at least 6 months. WBC stripped him and demoted him to champion in recess or something similar.
Im not sure why the WBC were so strict with Haney when a lot of WBC champions got a lot of leeway in the past (looking at chavez jr.).
Fortuna Vs Campbell were supposed to fight for the vacant title. Fight didnt happen because of corona. No one fought for the title while haney was injured, so there is no real reason for him being stripped.
So if WBC giving the champ back his title is bs that makes Haney paper champ then so is Loma & Ggg.

Yeah that was weird, but The gif comes from this DAZN short film. 'Devin Haney: Boxing's Next Superstar' -- Aint it tha truth? Also, Devin Haney turned pro in Mexico, so maybe thats the reason for the Selena shirt.

Arum has told Devin Haney in the past that that he signed with the wrong promoter. So it's obvious that he had no intentions of honoring that mando, hence why they requested Franchise Champion status.
In my view Haney rightfully got the WBC belt around his waist as a result. And now the WBC has done the right thing by letting him have it back since he is ready to go and no one can fight at the moment anyway.

But Lomachenko's team chose to instead drop the belt and accept Franchise Champion status.
So it's fitting that the belt is around his waist instead of Campbell coming off a loss. Or Fortuna.
Lomachenko isn't going to fight Devin Haney........
Not anytime soon....
He's going to unify the belts and if some brand new fighter like Haney is still even around, he'll take him out too.

Persistent is the key to victory.
Devin Haney persistent pay off and now he have his WBC belt back. If he fight his mandatory in his first fight in Javier Fortuna, I am all board. If Devin Haney have the balls to fight a easy tune-up, then I am in disagreement here. Yes, I know his lightweight division WBC title he win was all outside the ring and never fought a good opponent to merit this status champion.
