Why? The guy has had 2 shots at the belt already and just lost his last fight for it.

They wanted him to fight Campbell, he wanted to fight Fortuba instead. They compromised on him fighting neither

He definitely should be made to fight the Fortuna/Campbell winner. So now he gets to fight Fortuna once all these pandemic is over? I do feel sorry for Campbell as he would have hosts the Fortuna fight in the U.K., hope to win that and then he would have hoped to fight Haney on PPV possibly in the U.K. this has put a lot of fights off the radar.

Am sure he still have to fight Fortuna who was the mandatory prior to him being named as champion in recess. I just cannot believe this decision has been made when everyone is off from boxing, isn’t the WBC closed at the moment?

He wanted to fight Lomachenko, actually. And as the mandatory was next in line.

But Lomachenko's team chose to instead drop the belt and accept Franchise Champion status.

So it's fitting that the belt is around his waist instead of Campbell coming off a loss. Or Fortuna.

Lomachenko had just won the belt off of Luke Campbell, and the WBC turned around and called an immediate mandatory? When does that happen? The Franchise thing should have never happened. Haney would have got the fight after the Lopez fight or whatever order that mandatories go in.
