It’s never fitting, under any circumstance, for a fighter to literally be handed a belt. If Lomachenko vs Haney can not happen for what ever reason, the belt should be fought for by the next highest contenders at Lightweight.

Idc which fighter benefits from this, whether it’s a fighter I like or don’t like, it’s embarrassing and Haney should be ashamed of himself for this. He is now a perfect example of the term “paper champion”. He is a champion only on paper, and didn’t beat another champion for the belt, or even fought anyone at all for it. WBC, Haney, And Hearn should all be ashamed of themselves. And there should be no boxing fan on Earth that should defend this.

At least he tried to fight Lomachenko for the title, though.

You can't blame Haney if Lomachenko wouldn't fight him and preferred to drop the belt instead.

They should get rid of the Franchise belt and leave Loma as the world champion.

I think you're missing the point entirely even though I agree with your point entirely, because your focusing on what happened AFTER loma DUCKED Haney when he had the WBC take the unprecedented step of breaking their own rules to have a rival org champion not only fight for a vacant title,& not only jump the line in front of the #1 ,but Loma jumped the line in front of the #1 & got to face the #2 in everyone's eyes rather than the #1 Haney(whos was clearly better than Campbell) who had earned his shot following the wbc rules.

Just as Canelo followed wbc rules by fighting the lineal cotto, but Sulaiwhore gifted ggg a vacant jr belt despite it being against the rules for multiple reasons such as being rival orgs champion & because he kod washed Rubio in non eliminator .

Then they were allowing him to force a 45% purse split purse bid, Sulaiman is a corrupt whale carcass who sells out to the highest bidder & wipes his arse with WBC rules.

I absolutely blame Haney and Hearn for crying about being named WBC champion over complaining to fight the next best contender for it.

They specifically were trying to get the WBC to HAND them over the title, not asking to fight for it. And they succeeded.

This is what’s wrong with all 3 of them: WBC, Haney and Hearn.

Lomachenko did nothing wrong here, at all. A fighter dropping a title doesn’t mean that another fighter can be crowned champion by default. Still have to fight for at least the vacant title against the next best fighter.

                    You are partially correct.

#1 Luke Campbell was supposed to fight #2 Zaur Abdullaev for the WBC title that Mikey Garcia vacated.

Abdullaev said he couldn't face Campbell due to Ramadan. That's when #3 Devin Haney appealed to the WBC to take his place.

But the WBC jumped him and gave the spot to Lomachenko instead, who wasn't even in their rankings.

As mentioned above, Luke Campbell was supposed to fight #2 Zaur Abdullaev for the vacant WBC title.

When Abdullaev pulled out Devin Haney asked to step in, as the next highest ranked contender. But the WBC let Lomachenko jump in line ahead of him despite not even being in the rankings.

Haney went on to fight Abdullaev instead in a final eliminator that turned into an interim championship fight once Lomachenko dropped the belt.

He did everything right and by the book. So he is the rightful holder of that belt.
