Golovkin was a B- level at his best, beating D- bums. Mentioning the word "great" and Golovkin shows some people DKSAB.

He couldn't beat average boxers like Jacobs and good boxers, not great, like Canelo. He lost to Derevyanchenko.

I have Golovkin losing to Canelo twice, Jacobs, and Derevyanchenko. That's not the stuff of the greats, let alone ATGs.

You make a good point. GGG doesn't have a signature win. And it's nothing but conjecture that he would have beaten Martinez.

Soundly beating TOP 10 fighters doesn't not make one an ATG all by itself.

It's a shame that those fights didn't happen. I also would have loved to have seen a prime GGG go against Pirog. Those coulda / shoulda been Ali-Frazier type fights.

Which means I understand why others wouldn't rank him that high.

He should have fought Martinez and captured the undisputed middleweight crown in 2013 / 2014. But that never happened. He then would have had a string of title defenses.
