When did Eddie Hearn start thinking he’s a special promoter?

He had Groves, Froch and over 50% of the best British boxers prior to Josh and he wasn’t all that. After Josh, he has had most of the best British talents and none is a star.

So where did this idea that Hearn is a special promoter come from?

Not sure I understand the question.

Are you saying he's not one of the most successful promoters in the sport? Because he is, you know.

Just saying he’s not special/successful just because he’s some great promoter. He was just lucky to hit the jackpot with Josh. His CV before and after Josh showed that.

So why do people act like he’s some special promoter?

Maybe because of the billion dollar deal he has with the DAZN, a streaming app that will be broadcasting boxing worldwide soon. Just a hunch

Hearn is one cool cat and one of my favorite promoters today. He's making money moves and putting on some solid fights. He helped launch DAZN effectively banking on the streaming service against PPV.

You think when i go on youtube and listen to an eddie hearn interview, it's because he's got Anthony Joshua?
I do it because he's got plenty to say and there's always something going on (in boxing) with EH. His name is connected to most of what goes on in the boxing world now. That suggests he's a special promoter.

He's intelligent, funny, got the gift of the gab...he can sell a fight, but of course the fight/fighters have to do their part.
For example, BJS would have to beat Canelo if/when they fight. if bjs doesn't, it isnt eddie hearn's fault.
What makes someone a 'star' is more than just the promoter, it's their marketability, popularity and the ability to back it up.

Tell me, why didnt Danny Garcia or Keith thurman or Spence or Hurd or Charlo's get the GGG fight? why was it Kell Brook?
it's because of the uk, right? that's down to who?

Hearn has failed miserably with the Dazn deal. Dazn had to bring in Golden Boy.

To answer the original question directly, it was probably around the time he staged the Joshua/Klitschko fight in front of 95,000 fans at Wembley Stadium, the largest HW boxing crowd in 90 years.

its the greatest boxing deal in history

Al Haymon and Bob Arum don't have the skill to make a deal like that
