When did Eddie Hearn start thinking he’s a special promoter?

Bro, not two posts above this one, I have given you clear evidence of how you are wrong. Don't duck me and then spout the same stuff I disproved.Hearn fan boys can’t name one star he has created and it’s the same tired crap about Josh who actually made Hearn who he’s.
Also, when it comes to matchmaking, Matchroom is the worst promotional company by a mile and they have ruined some decent talents.
Get yer heads out of Hearn’s arse. He’s just a regular promoter that talks like a parrot with a lot of money to spend due to Josh turning him into a star via DAZN. There’s absolutely nothing special about him.Comment

i don't know if i've answered this already, but here goes. How come this ‘special’ promoter never turned any boxer into a star apart from Josh who was already destined for stardom?
Or can you name any other star Hearn created before and after Josh? Even Haney was already a name before he signed with him and he’s still the same.
Also, his DAZN deal was mostly because of Josh. Most of his shows in the US have flopped.
Firstly, how do you define success? for example Eddie pays his guys more than any other promoter would..and those guys even sell tickets entirely because they're on the matchroom platform.
Do you think whyte would be a big name with Queensbury or top rank?
When you look at the likes of Ted Cheeseman, Scott Fitzgerald, Anthony Fowler as very current examples, would these guys even be known if they were with other promoters? i honestly doubt it.
The likes of bivol, bertebiev, usyk, gassiev, hunter, they were all with the pbc before...how come no one really knew that? why are we only talking about someone like hunter now? it's because his name is associated with matchroom and therefore he has more eyes on him. It's the same for any other boxer.
You also can't just say 'apart from AJ' that's like saying 'what would FC Barcelona be without Messi'
simple, they would give the main role to others.
What's eddie done, outside of Joshua? he's worked his ass off and regularly done interviews where he's open about most boxing related topics. Who else does that?
in truth, it's not so much that EH is so good, it's that the rest are dog ****. frank, bob, mick, oscar, richard, al...these guys are fking crap at what they do.
You get any stockbroker from wall street with the gift of the gab and knowledge of boxing..give him a platform like showtime/fox and he does better than these guys.
the only other promoter who really knows his boxing on all levels, is Lou Dibella. the same enthusiasm he has when he talks about the ward-gatti fights is how Eddie talks about the mid level british fights.
it's that passion he has that drives viewers.
look at it this way, if there was a random boxing card on, on a sunday morning in the US...a bunch of mexicans/latinos vs some random british guy ive never heard of, i doubt id watch it.
however i watch it when it's a matchroom US card because i know there's a larger story attached to it.
As for your wild claim that he has failed in the US. lol no, not even close. He's already ahead of the rest..and it's getting better.
His intention from 2-3 yrs ago was that if he goes to the US he would try promoting boxing in places where boxing doesnt regularly go to. To gain knowledge of what people like/dislike and go on from there.
so obv it takes time.
When im seeing the youtube boxing channels all gravitate to eddie hearn in increasing numbers...that's a sign he's creating a buzz around the sport there that no one else is.
the only exceptions have been Canelo fights and Fury vs Wilder which was huge (put they spent a lot doing it).
Also, im pretty sure EH is under his dazn budget, i dont think he's even really spending the money they've given him yet. He said that last yr aswell, that he's got a lot of it put aside for the future.
i also like that he plays around with the purse bids. like he won the Ramirez vs Hooker fight, overpaid Ramirez, yet Bob was livid. Why? because now he has to overpay Ramirez too or risk losing him.Comment

The thread is about how he whimsically became this special promoter that turns boxers into stars, which has NEVER been the case. I just hate when people start crediting Hearn for Josh's starpower. That's where you need to pump the brake. And I always say the same thing about Floyd Mayweather and Al Haymon as well.
If you were to critically look at the Josh and Hearn relationship - Josh actually made Hearn star, not the other way around. He got the DAZN gig because of Josh and his career jumped to the next level because of Josh. Matchroom doesn't even know how to build prospects and they always end up ruining them before they get to the next level due to terrible Matchmaking. And they almost ruined Josh as well by throwing him into the deep end prematurely. They were just lucky the guy is special and was able to swim out of it.
Another terrible gaffe that Hearn made was the American excursion he did with Josh. Josh's profile was growing in the US and a thinking promoter would've eased him into that market with an average fighter that looks the part but can't really **** like Arum did with Fury. However, this guy picked the worst style matchup nightmare he could find on short notice and even added extra pressure by talking shyt everywhere and telling the guy to outdo what Wilder did to Breazeale. Hearn is a fccking scumbag and a bell. He ruined what could've been smooth because he's an idiot. So I don't know why people rate him. He's good comic relief with his mouth but that's where it ends.
Even with Dillian Whyte, he built the guy's whole career off Josh and nothing else. If he were the special promoter he claims to be, Whyte would've had his mandatory shot by now, if we're being honest. But now, all he's pushing for is Josh vs Whyte 2. No one wants to see that crap.Last edited by BangEM; 03-27-2020, 09:23 AM.Comment

of course AJ played the biggest role in EH becoming a big name..because it got him all the lgbt attention. However, you cant hold that against EH can you?Not denying his work ethic and what he pays fighters.

You can't hold it against him and say 'he would not be where he is without AJ' because it avoids the fact AJ did sign with him.
it's like saying 'if that guy wasnt rich, that fit as fk girl wouldnt be with him'. Avoiding the fact that he is rich and therefore does have her.
is he lucky? sure..but isnt that the same for everyone? bro at 12 yrs old i got esophagal cancer. people dont know that when they judge me externally.
im not bitter about the success of other people. it is what it is, ***** can go against you in life..and some people are lucky as hell.
i have a cousin my age who's made far more money than me, but it's a dishonest living (not drugs, just one of them dodgy solicitors). In fact he's a lot like EH. thing is he's also a funny b4stard and not arrogant. so i cant hate him. When people **** on about how good a lawyer he is, i cant say 'oh that's not fair, i have health issues that held me back'. he's successful at what he does..and that's all there is to it.
EH is a good promoter..he's successful and has the best roster.
Why do i want EH to be successful with dazn/matchroom US especially? it's because he's been subject to a lot of hate.
if he wasnt, if everyone just liked him, id prob lose interest in watching his videos.
its the whole drama around him in the US that makes me watch tbh. it makes me laugh. Seeing Leonard ellerbe in his suit tryibng to be the black Eddie hearn talking more...it's just funny to see.
btw, read this...even if you disagree, you know my opinion on it

I'm not dis*****g that. It's just for people who like to claim Hearn is some special promoter that hyped Josh into being a star when that wasn't the case. But you can always argue that Josh actually contributed more to Hearn being the household name in boxing that he's today.of course AJ played the biggest role in EH becoming a big name..because it got him all the lgbt attention. When you look at Josh's career from the beginning, apart from putting money down, Matchroom didn't even match him properly for him to develop fully before throwing him into the deep end for money grab. The luck ran out in NY. And I have this feeling the same is gonna happen to Dillian Whyte soon and I won't be shocked if he gets sparked by Povetkin.Comment
