I just told you his promoter is saying differently & the article you reference is based on a YouTube video interview from bt sport if I recall where Smiths statement is to be taken with a grain of salt considering just yesterday theres a video where his trainer said Smith might still get it. Smith is not going to admit that he lost the fight because he priced himself out after saying he would not & supposedly "just wanted canelo at all cost"(& the only thing that changed between then & now was he arguably lost to Ryder & CLEARLY no longer was so full of confidence)

In the videos I've seen, Hearn said that both guys know what others are getting and are willing to take less, within reason. This lines up with Billy's reported purse of 8 mill.
