Turning down the offer is basically saying "i don't want the fight".

Why not take it, beat him, then you're in control and can make all the money you want. These guys don't believe in themselves. 6 million is no joke, it's not like he offered him 100k lol

Look, first, I like Canelo. I like Mayweather. I like boxing. I like slugfests, I like what most will see as slow boring technical "marvel" fights. Don't give effs really, i like boxing. Everyone and their step brother who pays partial attention to the goings on in this sport cannot argue the following: Any fight these days with a title, or a bonafide "star" in the eyes of many someones, is going to have a rematch clause in the contract if the said "star" in the eyes of those someones happens to lose the fight. The second thing we all know is that we hear every single person who has a smidge of talent tell anyone within ear shot they are they greatest thing to put gloves on. For whatever reason, if you truly have the confidence of that sort, you should be A ok with taking what gets you the first fight in a situation such as this as...you are the greatest thing to put gloves on since whenever, they invented gloves or whenever, You will make decent change for showing the world how amazing you are when you win the first fight, you will win some more change in the rematch cause, once again, you, are, the bestest ever in the world with boxing mittens on. Its a sure fire deal. Easy Peazy. Oh, you get robbed in the decision if you should have to go to a decision? hey, there is another rematch lined up as that is how this deal has worked going on 80+ yrs now. Not much new left under the sun, it is almost like case law history, you can find a previous example for most possible outcomes, and the majority of them show that the guy who beats the guy, if he takes a maybe weakish deal in the first fight but wins, things are going to be substantially better. Put those juevos on the line sir

Billy Joe can't crack eggs, and, besides that, he very much talks like a guy who is thinking retirement already. He may be slick enough to go the distance against Canelo but he'll take a Camacho v JCC type of beating along the way.

Smith, on the other hand, is an athletic giant at 6'3" with a 78" reach (7-8" longer than Canelo and BJS). He punches in combination with actual intentions to hurt guys. Depending on how good he is on the inside will say a lot about his chances against Canelo, but his physical attributes alone will make him twice the threat that BJS is. As cautious as Canelo was against Kovalev in the early going, he'll be twice as wary against Smith - if they ever actually get in the ring. Unless there is great pressure on Canelo for this fight to happen, I think Team Canelo avoids this fight.
Fair to say I think a bit more Saunders than you do but he'll be likely relying on judges in Vegas on a Mexican holiday, which is quite the predicament.

Smith is obviously very good in his own right but I'd like to see him make more use of his height and reach. I'd also have expected Canelo to take encouragement from the Ryder fight as they're of a similar stature, although Ryder's a southpaw.

I am an American of Mexican decent. I enjoy the Mexican fight style. I may be wrong but it feels like Canelo lost the hunger, seems like he's happy fighting smaller guys and old men...........................Sanders? Meh!

              Greedy

Canelo already fought the toughest out there currently, these new champions aren't tough enough for Canelo like the others were. Why don't they prove it by fighting Triple G or Jacobs or Lara, instead of crying because 6 million wasn't enough. Canelo nor the others made the money an issue they just took the fights because they love a good challenge and that's why they are the Elite Fighters who got better.

Firstly, consider the odd paragraph here and there.

Secondly, you think Smith gets a rematch clause against Canelo even though he has a couple belts if he loses? I really don't think so. Also if this goes to decision you really think Smith gets a fair chance against Canelo in Vegas?

Don't get me wrong, I think he should have worked harder to make the fight as I have previously said, but I can also understand not wanting to get into a race to the bottom with BJS in this situation. He's not claiming Canelo ducked him or wouldn't fight him, two offers were made, one was always going to miss out.

No. Smith gets a rematch cause if he wins Canelo will rematch, that is what I meant. Also, the world didn't watch Ryder arguable beat Smith, no one but boxing people think he owes a rematch to Ryder. If Smith were to arguably win but get robbed on the cards, he would be in very good standing, many more than just boxing people will feel he would be owed another chance. Basically at the end of the day, I am just saying, if the fighters are as confident as they always claim, they would take fights. Just an opinion. Just different from yours.

Callum Smith, you lost your opportunity.

Callum Smith, you need to convince the people, doing the rematch against Ryder and then win in a convincing manner without a gift decision. After that, we hear you.
