they said that he was better than Hagler and Monzon
there was hype with Wilder, but he actually over-achieved considering his limited background... Golovkin is a underachiever, no matter which way you look at it
also... Wilder will fight anyone... Golovkin, will not

You can really watch a video like that below, and say that Monzon is a clearly superior fighter to GGG?
Fighters/athletes just get better over time man...hard to compare eras anyway...Monzon etc would likely be fighting at lower weights these days compared to MW...same day weigh ins etc.
Did they live up to what the fans and media made them out to be? No. So they're hype jobs.
Pre fight I made a poster of Canelo v GGG and titled it Fight of The Millennium Part 2. Yeah I’m bragging, but only a little bit, cause nobody regardless of what they said actually expected Hagler vs Hearns. Kellerman said strengths play into each other, what a joke, was he expecting a double knockout then? They were always going to stymie each other. The hype was expecting anything more than what we got. Both fights were close. If that means GGG is a hype job then, then that also means he built up a better reputation than Canelo did. There’s nothing wrong with that because this is prize fighting, and fighters get overrated with knockouts, just like Tyson. We need fighters to be overrated and hyped, it sells, it also means they are exciting. If everyone was underrated who would be watching?
Aj, wilder and golovkin have all had 1 loss each, golovkin arguably won his fight, AJ avenged his loss straight away and Wilder is going to try and even if he doesn't he lost to the divisions number 1.
I dont class any of them as the biggest hype job of the decade.
Jermall charlo is the biggest hype job as far as middleweight goes. He seems to want to talk big but only fight Jr muddles. But again he's not a crap fighter he just don't belong at 160.
I would say Luis Ortiz. Some how he got the label as the boogey man for going live and death against the 2nd tier heavies and losing to the only 1st tier fighter he faced while refusing to fight another one.
