Serious question - does any group overhype their fighters more than the UK?

It seems the UK/AJ posters have come out of the woodwork since Fury's win over Wilder.

As someone who was rooting for Fury and was glad he won, the resurgence of all of these 'AJ/UK' posters reminded me just how nice it actually was when AJ lost to Ruiz...they disappeared for a while and the discourse on here was much better...not perfect mind you...but before their presence was so large and loud that it was impossible to really reason with them.

Well gentleman...it appears they have come back, in droves...he.ll just check my signature below for the type of insanity we will now be having to deal with after Fury beating Wilder.

Men...it will not be easy to beat back these savages...but rest easy...very soon I'm sure AJ will get chinned again...and the great Dillian Whyte will surely lose too, as great as he is...what a stud that fat tub of goo is...he has to take PEDs and he still sucks.

For every one great UK fighter - a Tyson Fury for example - there are 3 Liam Walsh, Ricky Burns and Liam Smith type fighters...who get incredible hype at the UK level, are said to be world level, and are then embarrassed when they step up to world level.

    So serious question -

Is there any group that overhypes its fighters more than the UK? They are a clear number 1 imo...Mexican fighters next at number 2...then US fighters followed by eastern Euros...and then 'other' fighters, who are often undervalued imho...such as Cubans/Africans/etc.

I make my determinations based on the fact that all the money is really in the US UK and Mexico...so guys from those areas get more hype and attention and help...it is easier to sell a UK fighter to a UK person etc, same with Mexicans, US, Eastern Euros, etc.

The UK just seems to have a lot of attention on their boxing, and a lot of guys trying to make it...it just so happens that most of the time they actually suck...but we still have to hear about it for 2 years until they finally step up.

Certainly...Mexico has a decent number like this...Mungia comes to mind...Ryan Garcia (yes he is Mexican for all intents and purposes) was a bit overhyped but has looked very good to me lately...Canelo was overhyped but has lived up to much of it.

The US as well has some overhyped guys, but generally the US and Eastern euro amateur systems sort out who the best really are...so when we see those guys in the big time, more often that not they are the genuine article...imho anyway.

So yeah - can anyone argue that the UK overrates their fighters more than anyone?

For goodness sake...we are now having to deal with people saying Dillian Whyte is a great fighter...it is always like this with some obscure British level fighter...and then when they step up, over 50% of the time they get wrecked and his 'fans' suddenly disappear, only to back a new hope.

The thing is...is Wilder got beat by a not great fighter, or a fighter with a quite similar style to what Fury beat him with...I could understand guys like Whyte or AJ taking it as a win for them.

Like when Ruiz chinned AJ...like how could anyone then say that Wilder has 0 chance etc.

No one at HW can do what Fury does...they aren't 6'9 with his skills and mindset...and presumably Fury is number 1 at HW, maybe by a good distance.

If Whyte tries that gameplan he is going to sleep I am fairly certain of it.

You have to go back 15 years to find one of your guys...Broner was overhyped this is true.

Charlos still tbd...though to be fair, most agree they are like a MW version of Wilder...athletically impressive yet boxing skills wise not too great.

I really hope Wilder gets to fight AJ or Whyte...because if you call him overhyped, and he chins one or both of them...I can't wait to see your reaction.

There was a lot of people saying jermall beats canelo and golovkin a couple years back then he was lucky to get a decision against an inactive korovov who wasn't ranked in the top 30. Now he isn't talked about so much.

Fair enough...I would say that Charlo has a puncher's chance vs anyone, similar to Wilder...boxing wise he is nowhere near Canelo or GGG or any other top guy at 160 really...but he is big/strong/fast twitch and it only takes one shot in boxing.

I rate GGG about as high as anyone but I would give Charlo a decent puncher's chance in that fight...GGG is slipping now as we know, and in his old age could walk into something...it's possible.

But yeah skills wise the Charlos are about as limited as Wilder.

Were you here when he was fighting Davis? I could have sworn it was a 50/50 fight from reading the posts on here.
