Roy makes a good point, any boxer able to control distance neutralises Wilders right hand, and without the right hand, he's easy to beat. Fury was the first opponent with the skills to do that, and the result spoke for itself.

Historically there have been many HWs with the skills to maintain distance, and all of them would have done the same to Wilder as Fury did.

What Fury has done is put himself at the top of the pile in this era, while questioning why Wilder was there in the first place. Fury needs to go on and beat Joshua to cement any legacy in my book.

Fury's last 5-6 fights includes walking punchbags like Pianeta, Seferi, Schwarz, Wallin, (Wilder, lol).

Well I don't think anyone would describe Wilder as the best of a generation. He beat a guy who apparently was once a good amateur. Josh? Joshua? He hasn't fought Joshua.

But even so, 2 wins and obvious ability don't make an ATG.

Not really, Wlad was an almost over the hill fighter due to his age alone. He was 39 or 40 when Fury fought him while Fury was in his late 20s. And nobody is in their physical prime at 39, 40 and I'm pretty sure everyone acknowledged that fact before the fight. 2nd plenty of people called Wilder an unproven fraud who never fought anyone before the Fury loss. The absolute only reason anyone picked Wilder to win was because of their belief in his exaggerated power to negate his terrible boxing skills. I mean even Gerald Washington was schooling Wilder before his so called ko and he damn near didn't land a single punch on Luis Ortiz the entire fight in part II until his so called ko. Furthermore, few people were calling AJ an unproven fraud when he lost to Ruiz because he actually proved himself against elite to near elite competition, so it is not the case that everyone is just called a fraud who never did anything when they lose. Currently AJ's resume is still much better than Fury's so if we're going by resume alone and a sensational win against Wilder, who's a terrible boxer, it's simply not enough by itself to call Fury an ATG. That being said, i believe he is one in terms of skill based on the eye test.

We're going off topic a bit but Bruno is severely underrated.

Only lost at the Championship level against some decent fighters, including a couple of ATGs. Outside of the 3 losses to Lewis and Tyson he did well in the other fights and got done late.

Won his title from a guy who would rank above Stiverne in anyone's list.

38 knockouts in 40 wins. He wasn't the soft touch he got portrayed as.
