Haye was actually a risk taker early in his career but he was a smart guy, as is Adam booth his trainer and partner.

He figured out how to make big money, doing little, stitched Warren up for the Enzo fight which takes some doing and from then on it was easy Street all the way.

He showed in a few fights that he did have dog in him, but his attitude was like ah **** it I'll take the easy money.

I was a fan of his pre-wlad but realistically he was never going to win that fight, but he convinced a bunch of us.

He had talent for sure but once he got that undisputed CW status and confronted Wlad at like a mall or somewhere, he played it so smart barely did much of anything at that point and ended up with career high paydays.

Yeah, he was great at ripping people off.

Money in his pocket, and just a few more nails in the coffin of boxing.

        Gotta respect that.

This is a sport where so many fighters give everything and end up punch drunk and in debt.

I can't be mad at Haye

Haye wasted his prime with inactivity unfortunately.

            6 fights in 7 years (2011-2018).

Went AWOL after the Chisora win when he should have been pursuing another titl shot.

Haye created a huge profile for a short period of time but was a very average (at best) HW champion.

Whatever money he made, he spent just as quickly - so I don't see much to admire there either.

He reminds me a bit of Khan, talked his way into paydays only to get beaten up or come up with some crazy excuse.

I admire the smart not necessarily hard work he put in.

He got the most out of capitalizing off of the opportunity he had.

The cunning of it is something to applaud, he built up so much undue hype for the Wlad fight which he never deserved to be in that it was the most anticipated fight second only to Floyd/Pac at the time.

he sure must have been smart to create the smokescreen that he was thick as fcuk for so long.

Yes - you can't criticize his business acumen.

However, when it actually came to deliver on his promises, he usually failed miserably.

From a sports entertainment perspective that is disappointing and makes him more memorable for his promotional skills than as an actual champion boxer.
