Rigo hadn’t had a big fight in his career really outside of Dona ire and I’m sure this was a financially motivated move though it wasn’t as fruitful as it could have been.

Wow, what horrible comparisons. Pac was 112 when he was 16 yrs old. Not to mention its easier to beat bigger guys when they're weight drained and past their prime which was definitely the case when pac fought Oscar (weight drained and past his prime) and Canelo fought Kovalev (past his prime and fighting on just 10 weeks rest at 36 yrs old) . Neither of those compare to Rigo moving up 2 weight classes to fight a top p4p fighter in his prime.

These dudes are so silly with their responses when Loma himself refused to give himself credit for this fight. Can't stand guys that can't just be honest.

A great fighter jumping two weight classes to fighter another great fighter 9/10 is a complete mismatch.

            Get over it

He dared to be great. Nothing wrong with fighters pushing the limits and seeing how far they can go.

It's pretty embarrassing when a female knows more about boxing than half of Rigo's fanbase.

Edit - Never mind thought it was Clarissa Shields in the article.

Could have fought him earlier for more money at 126, so I don't think crazy is an overstatement.

I agree. It was crazy for Rigondeaux to jump two weight classes because Lomachenko was the much younger, stronger and bigger man.

However, people are forgetting that Rigondeaux didn't have much of a choice but to challenge "The Matrix" at the time. In addition, fans are not asking themselves why was he forced to fight Loma in the first place?

It was because fighters his own size were too afraid and were constantly ducking him by making excuses not to fight him. They would say that he was not a huge box office draw, had no loyal following and lacked a crowd pleasing style.

After he easily dismantled and exposed Nonito Donaire all of his contemporaries started to duck for cover. They wanted no parts of him.

Rigo was the one begging for the fight & everyone said Loma was ducking. He got what he asked for.

No matter what weight this fight took place at, Loma was gonna be naturally bigger than Rigo and the result would have been the same
of course his size was a factor
