Comments Thread For: Shields: It Was Crazy For Rigondeaux To Fight Lomachenko At 130

ALLENTOWN, Pennsylvania If Ronnie Shields were training Guillermo Rigondeaux in 2017, he would've strongly advised against the Cuban southpaw jumping up two weight classes to fight Vasiliy Lomachenko. That ambitious move proved to be too much for Rigondeaux, who declined to continue after the sixth round in part due to a hand injury. That technical-knockout defeat in December 2017 remains the lone loss on Rigondeaux's record.

What was really crazy was taking in only 400 000$ for such a risky fight!

"That was crazy. I talked to him about that and he said, ‘I know, I know.’ But he listened to everybody but himself. "

Dam so it was Rigo fans,Loma haters, and the yes man around him trying to get a big fight to cash out that pressured him to take the fight.

Hindsight is 20-20, people on here were even accusing Lomachenko of ducking him. Even though they were not in the same weight class.

It was even crazier for him to turn the fight down at 126.

The ironic thing is Lomas size didn't even win him the fight. He just outboxed the hell outta Rigo and made him look silly, completely toyed with him. He barely inflicted any substantial damage on Rigo, he hurt his pride more than anything and broke his will.

Rigo was the one begging for the fight & everyone said Loma was ducking. He got what he asked for.

No matter what weight this fight took place at, Loma was gonna be naturally bigger than Rigo and the result would have been the same
