I only agree with "ducking" when it comes to fighting outside of your weight class. Ward couldn't possibly duck Kovalev until he started fighting at 175. GGG didn't duck Ward until he tried to get Froch to come out of retirement, proving he was willing to fight at 168. No fighter is ever obligated to fight outside of their weight class.

I seem to recall Ward calling out Mayweather for a fight at 160 so...

Foreman and Tyson in the 1990s.

Foreman said he didn't really want to fight Tyson. His reps called Tyson's reps, Tyson's reps said they didn't want the fight, George said "good".

Neither one of them had much to gain from it at that point anyway. This was post-Holyfield Tyson so it's low reward, high risk for big George.

Whyte f#cked himself with that example you bring up. He turned down Ortiz when Ortiz was the mando to Wilder fight. Than he got into his still kinda sorta sketchy PED situation after he finally won a mando to Wilder fight.

If you wanna say the WBC is f#cking him over I can see that better than Wilder was ducking him.

I always think a boxer is ducking when they ask for a fight, get offered the fight then duck the fight for a less name and pay day.

I don’t really want to start an issue but for me Bradley is an example of that in regards to Khan, and Wilder was an example of that in regards to Joshua, Bhop in regards to RJJ rematch before they finally fought that old age rematch.

Just a few examples that I can remember, please don’t come back at me with the usual “He went on to fight so so and so”.... am just going directly by the thread.

But i will agree with the part of them not ever having real offers to fight i guess
Taking on a bigger challenge isn't ducking the lesser challenge. That's beyond silly to suggest.

And it's no offers but it's also bad offers which make legit ducks or non-ducks unknown to most fans that's why it's a silly time suck of a topic like P4P.

If you send Canelo an offer for $5M to fight David Benavidez is that a bad deal or a duck to you if Canelo says f#ck that? And that's just an extreme example.

People say Broner turning down Manny the first time was a duck but that was a sh^tty 360 record deal contract. No one in boxing with a personality should be signing that kinda deal. It's no surprise that Broner got that fight easy when Manny came to PBC & no bs strings or options were involved.

That sh^t matters. To some boxing fans doe if you turn down a sh^tty offer you are ducking the opponent not turning down a sh^tty offer.

No he wasn’t going to be a mandatory. Doesn’t matter how many times you guys tried to twist it. It doesn’t make it true. And what offer was on the table from Team Ortiz for Whyte?
