Didn’t they strip Canelo and and Fury? I mean Fury was stripped 10 days after winning it.

You can't strip Joshua for fighting one mandatory over another as long as he sticks to the rotation. The issue is that Hearn wants him to vacate the WBO for other reasons, so there is an effort to fool the fans here.

Vacating the WBO wouldn’t actually matter if he’s not fighting Usyk next anyway so what’s your point ? Ha

If AJ would commit, in writing, to begin negotiating a fight with Usyk within a stipulated time if he beats Pulev, the WBO wouldn't strip him.

But as long as Usyk and AJ are committed to fighting each other anyway, which it seems they are, I don't see any problem in them setting it up as a unification fight, rather than a mandatory defense by AJ.

Those were different situations. Canelo was stripped for refusing to fight his mando. Fury was stripped for being legally unable to fight his IBF mando due to him signing a rematch clause with Wlad, without notifying the IBF and getting their permission first.

Wait a second If It’s a unification fight then Usyk has a belt ? This undermines there are no problems because that would take AJ being stripped and Usyk winning a belt ?

The WBO would have to strip AJ for unification bout ?

Does writing actually stop being stripped ? Even if it did not sure AJ would care as Pulev is the first up and a unification fight is always bigger so why would team AJ care it’s a bigger fight to easily promote ?

If AJ made a written undertaking to the WBO that he would fight Usyk within a stipulated time - 90 days I think - after his IBF mando, the WBO wouldn't strip him.

If he relinquished the WBO belt instead, Usyk would fight somebody else for it - almost certainly Parker - in March or April, and the winner of that fight could then reunify the belts against AJ, assuming he beats Pulev.

That would be ideal for Hearn, AJ, and the winner of Usyk/Parker, because it would set up 2 world HW title fights, and - as long as Pulev didn't ruin the plan by beating AJ - the 2 Matchroom world champs could then unify against other straight after. Great business for all concerned, and no skin off the fans noses.

Yea I get all that up until the written letter because I don’t really remember it being that easy the other posters claims however AJ is saving face when he’s going to fight Pulev first then Usyk anyway so what is he saving by giving Up the WBO makes no sense if two champions fight .

The IBF subsequently revoked that, it was discussed at length in the media at the time, they have called the mandatory no need to listen to Hearn or Joshua go ask the IBF.

the WBO have told talkSPORT.com that, as Povetkin is #1 in their rankings too, the bout also counts as their mandatory defence.

The WBO will jump on the bandwagon and make a "Super Diamond Emeritus" title or something like that.
