Again, when a ggg/Ward fight was a real possibility (not when Ward was injured, not when Ward was having legal problems), team ggg insisted that the fight could only happen at 164. This was after approving 168 for both Froch and Chavez Jr. They knew Ward would be hard pressed to make 168 and 164 would be out of the question. They could act like they were interested in a Ward fight without having to fight him. After the fight fell apart, Ward moved up to light heavy to fight the #1 guy in the perceived killer Kovalev and ggg drug the #3 or #4 welter (Brook) up not one but two weight classes for a fight. So who was looking for touch fights and who wasn't. At the time I heavily chastised ggg for this but in hind sight, it was brilliant. Ggg made millions vs Canelo that he wouldn't have made with a Ward loss on his resume.Comment

Article prior to Hopkins fight of Tarver complaining about his lack of respect for his P4P ranking
Article: Tarver says he's underrated on pound-for-pound list
"You mention Jermain Taylor, and when you look at the pound-for-pound list -- as mythical as it may be -- nobody has me ranked as high as 10," bristles Tarver, though The Ring magazine does have him at No. 8 on their current pound-for-pound list.
"I think it's a slap in my face that people do not recognize my talents and my ability. And now I'm fighting a guy like Bernard Hopkins, and it's supposed to be a mismatch. I'm gonna prove to everybody that I'm not Jermain Taylor. But at the same time, Jermain Taylor is ranked at four, five, or six in most people's pound-for-pound list.
"People know my ability, they know my talents, and they know my capabilities -- why are they being so naďve and blind when they know I'm one of the most talented fighters in the world today? Winky Wright is [number] one or two pound-for-pound, coming off what some people think was a questionable decision against a no-name fighter [Sam Soliman] in his last outing.
"I don't understand it. I beat every guy that I ever faced. I knocked out the great Roy Jones Jr. I defeated handily the fighter of the year in 2004 [Glen Johnson], and I get no credit for those victories. So my thing is this -- I won't be appreciated until I step away from the game.

Hell, at least Canelo competed in and won a belt in Beterbiev's weight class.
GGG & Ward have never existed in the same weight class. It's just a ridiculous anti-GGG talking pointComment

ward actually offered golovkin a chance to move up and have a tuneup before they fought.....so he could get acclimated to the weight .....golovkins team answered no within an hourComment

Yeah I thought he was lower top 10. I think he may have broke the top 5 after the 2nd fight with Roy but after going 1-1 with Glen Johnson he dropped right down the list.Article prior to Hopkins fight of Tarver complaining about his lack of respect for his P4P ranking

I put them both in the same category cause they’re “dream type” matchups. They could theoretically happen but we shouldn’t demand the naturally smaller men to have to take them.Comment
