It's kinda easier to appreciate if you got some training in a grappling art for sure. Way I'm seeing some of the guys talking about MMA here is like the way most chicks I know talk about boxing - like all they see is two guys punching each other, without getting any of the nuance or subtlety.

I like both, boxing's always gonna be my first love but absolutely I appreciate what the MMA guys do, and I personally got waaay more experience of Judo and Jujitsu than of boxing, so if anything I pick up the details of MMA better than I do for boxing for all that I watch about 10x more boxing than MMA.

You can appreciate the skill and subtleties of MMA grappling and still find in to be less than entertaining. That's the boat I'm in.

Yeah it’s ridiculous that most of these posters are criticizing MMA and saying it’s no skill when it’s a highly skilled sport and far more entertaining than boxing.

In MMA at least you have the best fighting the best not ducking like mayweather and conelo.

I’ll take wrestling on the ground over 12 rounds of pitty pat any day and I’m a boxing fan but the sport is getting super boring with all the mismatches and fighters ducking each other and promoters not wanting to work together to bring us consumers the matches we want to see

I remember watching it many years ago and it was too brutal. I was intrigued by the boxer vs judo or jujitsu vs wrestler element. But it was too savage.

I've caught a few fights here and there and can see that they've changed it a lot. But it's not particularly interesting to me.

I was raised to believe that kicking someone in the head or hitting someone when they're on the ground are the lowest acts in fighting. The people in it are highly skilled and brave as fook. But it's not for me.

I think it attracts the worst people too.

People keep talking about how brutal MMA is, but so far nobody has died doing it.

People die from boxing injuries on the regular.

I hate any comparison of MMA to boxing as to which is the superior sport to watch. Listen. I don't watch boxing to say, if there was a street fight, the boxer will win 100% of the time just because he knows how to throw a punch. I watch boxing because at the highest level, it's like an art. Classes tell.

Boxing to me is like watching a sport lets say like Tennis or Golf (2 that I do not watch at all and probably hate, at least golf). With that said, my comparison is because you are MASTERING a single craft. By MASTERING that craft, at the highest level, you will see the difference between those that are not there.

MMA you are a man of many skills and a master of none. Literally. Then let's say you did master 1 of your many needed skills in MMA, that 1 skill you mastered can be nullified when it's no longer in play such as a striker being taken to the ground. At that point, what am I watching? Now I'm watching the other guy using his mastery of the ground taking out the other guy who doesn't know. There are too many unpolished variables that you don't get 1 defined form to consider a name like you would boxing.

Boxing is boxing. I know that is the point of MMA - Mixed Martial Arts, but that is precisely why I do not enjoy it. I don't want mixed shiiieeet, I want 1 defined aspect and seeing who is the best at that 1 defined aspect.

Bro, listen. There are some guys in MMA who are pretty good athletes.

With that said... the sport is very different. Meaning, a guy who has never fought before can get in the sport and within a year become the UFC champion.

A lot of the WWE guys become UFC champions because of that kinda stuff.

It’s not a 1st sport. It’s a 2nd or 3rd for almost all of them. It doesn’t pass the eye test for people who want to see elite athletes compete. It’s mostly for the people who just want to see someone elbowed in the face.

That’s why the supply and demand is much different than that of boxing.

In boxing, you use only your fists. No elbows, knees or taking your opponent to the ground to bail you out. If you aren't skilled enough with your fists, it's going to be a LONG night. If you are hurt, the referee will give you an 8 count. He will ask you if are ok to continue. If you are not ok, he will stop it.

No comparison. Boxing is much more civilized and is the true gentlemen's sport.
ROFL you do understand that MMA is based on the Pankration right? The combat sport that has been around almost 2 thousand years before queenbury?

Gentleman's sport, you sound like an sjw cuck. Give me any boxer on the street, power double him into the ground then choke his ass out. So much for the sweet science.

You do understand that 90% percent of Professional mma fighters have some combat sport background right. Stop lying to people, average Joe's with only 6 months in training isn't going to be able to step into the UFC and fight.

Your making boxing fans look like idiots.
