Floyd used to fight everyone. And then he become Money Mayweather and everything changed. Making a lot of money and protecting his undefeated record became a priority. When he ducked Pacquiao and Mosley, I understood. They both came across as cheats. When he ducked Margarito, William's, and Martinez, I understood. They were super welter - to - light middleweights. The only fighter I saw him ducking was Cotto in his prime. That Cotto would have given Floyd all he could handle. P.S. All this talk about Loma. I think Davis and Lopez beats him.

Tall, rangy, non stop puncher with a very good jab.
And Floyd didn't want anything to do with Cotto in his prime. Gtfoh with that.

Arum said while Mayweather would have taken the $8 million to fight Margarito, he asked for a $10 million guarantee to fight opponents such as Miguel Cotto and Ricky Hatton, when Arum was only willing to guarantee $7 million.
Arum said Mayweather also asked for $20 million to fight De La Hoya, a fight Arum said he wasn't interested in participating in.
"That's not in the cards," Arum said. "He wants $20 million for the De La Hoya fight? It's not there. Sometimes, my man, you gotta know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. We'll talk about things down the road."
Ellerbe said Mayweather opted for the buyout so he could be "more in control of when and who he fights next. It's as simple as that. There is nothing bad between Floyd and Bob."
floyd actually tried to negotiate a cotto bout years ago...and arum confirmed that floyd was willing to fight margs.....bob lost floyd over 6 million over two fights for hatton and cotto lol
as soon as floyd left bob kept cotto far away from floyd...as soon as cotto got out from arum they made a fight very easily.....bob also kept pac away from floyd for years until he got knocked out by marquez and he was ready to cash him out
floyd would have picked margarito apart....it probably would have been gatti bad....margarito has no skill other than he eats punches....hes a windmiller with no real skill....someone like floyd is about 100 levels above that guy...no way does floyd lose to someone that basic and that crap....friggin old arse shane pushed tonys **** in...lol
paul williams would be tough...but paul was also many levels below floyd...paul never watched tape...he didnt train to defend himself...he trained himself to throw a ton of punches and have the stamina to do it.....but thats about it...once floyd figured out the range and his patterns he would have eaten pauls lunch...it might have taken half of the fight but he would eventually have done it...
its fine if you believe he ducked p will.....but theres no evidence he ever ducked prime cotto...in fact he tried to negotiate a fight with him many, many, years ago and i just showed you......
bob was all nice nice talking about floyd when floyd left....then floyd started working with oscar and he got pissy and you guys ate up everything he said after the fact instead of remembering what he said before

floyd tried to fight cotto many years ago....bob wouldnt guarantee him the 10 mil he wanted.....he would only do 7....same with hatton fight...bob lost floyd over about 6 million and the oscar fight....
bob got pissy when floyd started using golden boy to do his shows.....floyd didnt duck cotto.....bob kept cotto far away from floyd once floyd left his company....he did the same with pac...he cashed pac out after marquez knocked him out....but spent years milking him and keeping him away from floyd
you guys crack me up with delusional fantasies about floyd....its ridiculous

Floyd and his 1 shot pot shots wouldn't have been enough to beat p will. Paul's jab alone would give him fits all night, and his acitivity would've sealed the deal on a victory.

bro...cotto was eating margarito for a good 6 rounds...easily....and then the 2nd fight he dominated him...cotto didnt adjust and do what he should have done....he did what he should have done in the 2nd fight.....floyd would have battered margarito and clinched and tied him up when neccesary......margarito would have been very easy for floyd....margarito was trash....absolute trash....you keep talking about his "style" but he didnt have one...or any....he was as basic...he just had a block head
you can call me a ****rider...whatever...i could call you a "hater"...but i wont....i just see things for what they are.....you people are still talking about floyd...theres 20 floyd threads a day and he aint had a real fight in years...
try looking for the truth in what you watch...not the narrative you want to be true

Originally posted by BoxingSceneThe two men have been mooted as possible opponents since both were campaigning as super lightweights, but Cotto felt his chances would have been significantly diminished had they met earlier in his career.
"I didn't think about him because he was a great champion, he was a guy who was above me on all levels," he said.
People need to stop the ducking narrative. Seriously. The fighters themselves have already debunked this.

This is in addition to the ESPN interview he gave back in 2004-2005 - which I can't find because ESPN archives certain footage - where he specifically said that he never pushed for the fight at that time because "it wasn't the right time".
