I feel sad for Ruiz. He threw it all away!

I agree it was more because of AJ than Ruiz. Still saying you added weight to be more powerful or in case ur opponent leaned on you is just an old heavyweight joke everyone keeps falling for. It’s how they sell the fight while coming in fatter than before. If u were a former cruiser bulking up maybe. But all the weight Andy added was fat and it showed. Andy figured AJ would move more, so why would ruiz add weight as a strategy? He already showed he had the power to hurt him. If anything he knew he’d need to be able to move better to counter AJs movement. Adding a bunch of fat is not a strategy. It just means u ate more or trained less or both. Dillian Whyte admitted he was a stone and a half overweight. Would anyone look at him and say it might be because of a pre determined strategy? Adding extra fat is never a legit strategy, saying it is, it’s just an old joke to sell the fat. Douglas said the same thing vs Holyfield. Never has there been examples of added fat contributing to a win.
I was just stating that that was what team Ruiz or ruiz himself claimed to be the case prefight. That they were going for power and KO and that they prepared really well.
People definitely bought it. In the early stages of promotion where slimmed Andy pics were being scattered around. People be like “Oh no it’s bad for ya” And all. “Don’t fix what ain’t broke”. And with roach saying andy is better fat than not, and that’s his former coach.
It’s amazing how it could change after the fight..
“Oh you didn’t prepare well.”
I say fat or not, Aj executed a good strategy that be tough not just for ruiz but for everyone albeit being boring in many casuals eyes.
Floyd use the same thing his entire career.. potshot box tie up wash rinse and repeat.
But I cannot accept that it is more of ruiz being fat or underprepared that Aj won in that manner.
I saw his prefight training vids, interviews. And all and he prepared well for this fight..
But now, that is made to be a very fitting excuse.. Cmon he was already fat the first time
Aj would have won the first one had he fought the same way. Against a 260 plus ruiz.
I was rooting for ruiz.. but he just couldn’t do anything about that kinda style.. it’s not in his arsenal to counter that.
Even duran, didn’t want none when sugar ray started to bike around.
He should’ve ask for joshua to fight him, right from the start. Not 15 seconds to the final bell lolComment

You don't get paid that kind of money for 36 minutes of work. You get it for weeks of work culminating in a fight.
Ruiz took the money without doing the work.
Fair enough, good luck to him. If he's happy then it's not for me to judge.
I don't see anyone giving him another shot though. Would you invest in a big fight just to have him turn up like that?
He'll have to prove himself on the undercard with small purses now.
And all he had to do was not gorge himself.Comment

I agree with everything u said. Maybe Ruiz had the best cardio of his life this fight. It’s hard to know. Still he added nothing but fat. So if he worked harder than ever, that means he also ate way more calories than ever to come in so much fatter despite that effort. All I know is his diet was garbage cause nobody strategize to gain all that fat. Like u said it was what his team said was his strategy. I agree, I don’t think the weight on either side was ever a huge factor. I think it was what a lot of rematches look like. AJs adaptation and precedent of the first fight was the difference. But AJ lost sum weight knowing he’d be moving more. We make too much of weight, but it’s a tangible number, so it makes sense why we do. I agree I don’t think a 250lb Ruiz coulda won tonight. But I still want us fans to be able to call out these fighters and trainers after for not getting to their best weight. They gotta lie to sell the fight I know that. But the joke is on us fans, for somehow allowing to believe that. Like I said it’s an old boxing joke.I was just stating that that was what team Ruiz or ruiz himself claimed to be the case prefight. That they were going for power and KO and that they prepared really well.

It is funny that people will praise his heart and question Joshua's.
I respect both men for living their lives and having the balls to step in the ring. I won't question their heart but I will question the mentality of a fighter who goes into the biggest fight of their career without training properly.Comment
